It was a slow start but I was okay with as as there was slush on the roads. But then, both hip flexors felt immensely tight to the point where I had to stop and stretch every 300 metres or so. It was the first time in a long time that I was doing equal lengths of walking and running. I tried my hardest to slow down that it did not help.
My hips and groin area feel very tight and stretching is not really helping. What an awful, awful run. I'd been so looking forward to this Saturday morning run after all the snowy/rainy weather but it was not to be.
Thanks for letting me whinge and whine about it. And if you know some tricks for the hip flexors, please share. I suspect my running form is to blame...

These are known as practice runs. We all get runs like this, sometimes we need to run an awful lot of these types of runs, but after training and improved fitness when you do have a good run you really appreciate it. Good luck.
Oh poor you! I also have very tight hip flexors and the left one is sore after yesterday's run. So I do empathise! I am investigating what to do about it, so if you discover anything, do post as I'd be interested to know. Still, you did it and I hope it eases soon.
I don’t know very much about tight hip flexors, but most exercises look very similar to ones which almost ever yoga session has that we do over at Strength and Flex. So if you haven’t made a short daily yoga session part of your daily practice, this might be a time to try it. (Ignore if you’re already there, and woohoo!)
Sitting in a chair or on a sofa for long hours is bad for hips. Our yoga teacher suggested when we sit watching the telly in the evenings, to spend some of the time sitting on the floor, cross-legged or soles of the feet lightly pressed together. Not too long at first else you’ll stiffen up just the same. Increase the time slightly each day, as you can manage it.
Do you do any hip rotations in your dynamic warm up exercises before going running?
I googled hipflexor soreness due to m6 current issues and found a massage technique. After hobbling yesterday, it has significantly improved. You find the tender spot below the protruding hip bone and massage it fir a few minutes. I suppose it's like foam rolling, but easier to do. It seems to be working for me.
