After an amazing meal out last night (with wine ๐ฌ), I really didnโt know how my long run would go this morning, but I was feeling determined, and managed to get out by 8am (late for me!)
Beautiful weather - sunny with a breeze. Met a lovely elderly couple power walking at one point and the gentleman kindly stepped to one side and cheered me on, saying โyou can do it, keep going sweetheart!โ Warmed the cockles of my heart it did.
After my 11k last Saturday, I really wanted to see if I could go a bit further. It wasnโt easy, I had to really dig deep the last 3km, but I am so happy with the result. Gawd, these longer runs really take some mental resilience! Thank god for Madonna on my playlist; Like a Prayer came on just when I needed it on the final stretch and I managed to belt out a few lines whilst running lol!
Happy Sunday all. I am going to reacquaint myself with the couch today. ๐

Yay yay yay!!! Well done Sadie! Fantastic effort! Are you starting to fuel / drink on the longer runs now? (If not, might be an idea to help on the last few kmโs)
Big love and happy Sunday โค๏ธโค๏ธ๐๐โโ๏ธX
Thanks dearest Mitch! ๐ I do take water with electrolytes, but no fuel yet. A banana an hour before I run. I wonder at one point/distance I should consider taking a snack - and what?! I donโt fancy gels. ๐ค
All good here, only managed 1 Run this week, was in pain (after the race last w/e) and back half of the week was a bit mental, did a 3km on Thursday more out of guilt than anything else! Lol.
How about taking a square of flapjack or a nut bar (or something like those?) I guess youโd need to have it around 30/40 minutes in to get the benefits later?
Someone said to me last week, when you hit 10k you start to find out more about yourself / body etc and what works and doesnโt work for you both on how to prepare and how to fuel the run.
Well Done Sadie. Enjoy that couch, you deserve it after 12k. Iโm also on the couch on my rest day watching all those amazing runners at the GNR. Iโve never watched it as a runner before. Hope all our forumites are doing well today.
Thanks dear Dexy. I watched the start of the GNR and it was awe inspiring seeing all those plucky runners lined up! Cannot wait to hear how our HU pals did. xx
Wowzers Sadie-runs , thereโs no stopping you is there?? Thatโs a fab run & even though the last 3kms were tough you had your determined head on & carried on, what a great way to start the day!! Enjoy the comfort of the couch today...but donโt get too comfy!! Lol x
Thank you lovely Bev-lar (as you will forever be known in my head now lol!) I am not sure where I am going with all this distance lark...maybe half marathon! But maybe not. I am shattered now! xxx
Lol...Iโll answer to that!!! ๐..doesnโt matter where youโre going with the distance does it? Youโre enjoying it & thatโs what matters xxx
Well done you, great to see you back out there with a pretty impressive distance! Looks like pretty decent weather too, overcast and drizzly for me...
I love the whole โdigging deep thingโ. Not at the time, but afterwards the sense of achievement is just amazing. That, coupled with that lovely feeling from the muscles that say theyโve had a good workout, is fantastic.
Youโre doing so great Sadie, still inspirational, as if there was ever any doubt
Thanks Neil my love. Weather was perfect (though I would have been happier with a few degrees cooler to be honest). Feeling quite exhausted now, still a long way to go in terms of my fitness levels, but am so happy to have reached 12km in one piece! ๐ Hope you are well - you been out this weekend? xxx
Fantastic effort! Especially after a good night out. I am just building up to going out for a long run this afternoon but Iโm looking at 10K and no further!
Thank you CC! 10km is a nice distance; hope you had a good run. I think Iโm back to 10km next week - that leaves me energised, but after 12k today I am exhausted and done for! x
That looks like a brilliant run Sadie. Very well done. I'm hoping to try for 12k again tomorrow - I found my first one last week really hard so am hoping the next one will be easier- maybe I will look for Madonna to take with me ๐๐๐
Go Sadie go! ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
You did well to keep that pace up. Itโs why youโre having to dig deep. The last few Ks are the point at which I feel I could just keep going. And Iโm sure itโs because Iโm a slow runner.
But 12k so soon after reaching 10 is utterly brilliant. You are amazing.
Oh I donโt know about that lol! But thank you, FPF! I am certainly enjoying the challenge of seeing how far I can go without something falling off. ๐ xxx
