Where did the month go? I seemed to have just gotten into the November rhythm, having missed a half months’ worth of running days and suddenly the new YWA December calendar drops! As usually it has its daily short Yoga video sessions, focussing on the theme of BALANCE, although I could have used a month of “GAINING TIME”!
So here is our virtual workout space all prepared and ready for the start on the first of December.
Of course, we also have our weekly Advent count down going on ( healthunlocked.com/strength... ), and I’ll be doing some of these besides the daily Yoga practice.
So here’s to YWA and a December being “more balanced from the inside out”.
And if you are just joining us, big WELCOME to you and any new Virtual Workout Buddies! The daily practice of YWA calendar is perfect to get started with Yoga.
And feel free to - as Adriene says - “find what feels good”, meaning if your knees feel too sensitive, amend that Child’s Pose. And if you find full planks are the stuff of nightmares, rather do half planks than full ones. Do whatever feels right to get the maximum enjoyment from these daily sessions. And definitely get creative with props.
Here is a hopefully helpful post about YOGA props.
★ Here was my initial large collection of props, many of which I do not need anymore, but I certainly did in the beginning: healthunlocked.com/strength...
★ And if you want to see what a month’s Virtual Workout Room looks like, here the one for April ‘21 :
Thank you for posting CBDB I hope to get myself back into rhythm and routine during December I was a bit hit and miss in November - I have no regrets as my 1st Grandchild appeared on the scene mid November! He’s gorgeous !
Day 1 Yoga to shift perspective: And we are off with the new calendar 📆! Nice practice. There was one movement in there which was completely new to me, from a sort of lunge with one arm up one down, to triangle pose with switched arms. And then switch slowly whilst breathing. Nice! (Not sure what you call that, though)
Day 2: Yoga for Concentration. Lovely 20 min practice and I only left out the toe stands and crow practice! So definitely for the yoga crows amongst us!
Day 7: instead of doing the yoga practice meant for today, I did yesterday’s new Brain Body Balance session, and it didn’t disappoint.
(I also found out if I steal my husbands mat and put it underneath mine, I don’t need knee padding. But I lose a Yoga partner for that session. Hmm … 🤨 🧐 🤔 )
(Just kidding, I love doing couples Yoga sessions, although not having to use knee pads or blankets is tempting! 🤣🤣)
Day 11 Yoga for Uncertainty: phew, this one was the 51min one! 😳 But it was a very slow, intentional practice with lots of rooms for adaptions. I usually don’t like the long ones, and often don’t last the full time. But this one was great! Hubby and I did it together and he fell asleep at the end’s shanasava . 😚🙃😀
Day 24 🎄: Finally getting back to Yoga after a 10 day enforced break due to the flu. Strangely enough, 18min yoga was today harder than rowing the 6km. All standing, lunges, balances, some flows down to cobra and planks and down dogs. Then balancing and some knocking. All knocked out now!
Day 25 onwards: I’m taking it a bit easier with Yoga, choosing some sessions that do not involve the feet. I feel like any poses like down dogs, or stretching/bending my toes in any way, makes my metatarsals worse.
Rowing seems to not affect it. And I’ll probably revert to some chair based or lying workouts. But no posting here for now.
