We did the 10k version this morning and jeffed a lot of it.
There we were at 9.30am on a grey saturday morning, met Jo at the car park and we were off!
Willow stayed home today
To start we walked along the river 1k to the footbridge, passed the coffee van and ran across the bridge dodging walkers, runners, cyclists and dogs, turned left and joggled on, it’s busy at weekends this track but flat and fairly flat, 2k run as rungo’s marathoners reached 6k. One ear bud in and the Hu playlist lots of good music.
Legs a little achy from yesterdays run but not bad, Jo’s pace a little fast for me and beginning to notice that, walked a minute then sprinted (went a bit faster) to catch her up, this was the pattern of the rest of the run for me, we talked while together and when i could no longer hear her I sped up until I could.
The path was busy in places and by the time we turned at 5k realised it had been meandering upwards slightly, sweet relief it was now slightly downwards most the way back, the splits were mostly ten something and I was struggling a bit to catch Jo up but it was so lovely to be doing this. I love an out and back because once i get to 5k i know I’ll get to 10k even if i have to crawl the last bit because that’s where my car is 😂
The sky is grey the trees are all shades of brown orange and gold, it’s so good, heart rate steady breathing steady, lots of nose blowing, I’ll be glad when this cold has gone.
back towards the bridge, under the flyover and passed the wooden heron, i didn’t notice either on the way out and yay 😀 we are at 9k and running very slowly back across the bridge 😁
back into muddy rutty narrow track and walking most of the last kilometre back to the cars for lukewarm tea and wedges of melon, very welcome too!
So lessons learned, park the other side of the river and miss the muddy track next time and let Jo go ahead while I find my happy pace, but we both enjoyed ourselves so much.
Off to see the horses and give them cuddles and hay. Now home and after stretches into a very hot bath
Hope everyone else running today enjoyed their run as much as we did!
Thank you Linda and Roseabi for organising this and putting the playlist together

Great run for both of you today . Well done . Love your scenic run. Mines would be a bit more scenic if I went out in daylight . Love your bit a the end too giving horses a cuddle and feeding them . 👏⭐️
Well done to you both, great run report, so entertaining to read, and that 10k must have felt so good after the last few weeks. I particularly love the logic of the out and back run, so true 😂
It did feel good but this colds hanging on, I arrived back at the car with a huge wad of wet tissue luckily new box in car, what feels really good is having our plan going forward
Congratulations to you Sola and your friend Jo on completing the Healthunlocked 10K this morning, I am sure both of you enjoyed the run with a little walking as well, I intend to run the HU 10K next Wednesday.
Ahh well done! Especially after running yesterday too. Mud is no fun for running - but at least you didn't end up in the river (unless you haven't told us the whole story?). Great 10k!!!
Next time we will miss that muddy track out, we couldn’t even walk a good pace along it, thank you and for organising this it felt great to be part of but…. I had to laugh when rungo said we were at 6k and we were barely at 2
Nodding off sounds good but trying to stay awake so i sleep well tonight, tomorrow i will rest from running but after a month of not seeing Jo and being ill i’m all excited about running again
It’s great to run with a friend, Willow is happy with anything up to half hour then he’s had enough so all my longer runs so far have been just me, and her little dog! her legs are only about 4 inches long and she trotted all the way round plus some to say hello to other dogs
The whole thing was conversational pace 😂 heart rate and breathing were fine but my legs were feeling it a bit, coming back from being ill probably wasn’t sensible but it sure was fun
Well it’s just rude to not answer when halfway through a sentence and can’t hear isn’t it? Oh that’s just reminded me, when i was little we used to go for a walk after lunch on Sundays and when my grandmother was there she called me Susan slowcoach so i must always have been lagging behind 😂
Great 10k for you and your friend. I am glad you enjoyed the run so much. I did too, the sound track, Autumn colours and knowing lots of others were doing the same today
Awe willowandsola 👏👏✨What a fantastic report..made me laugh when you say park the car on the other side.. even if you have to crawl to it.. such determination!
Glad you both enjoyed it.. hard as it is..it's an amazing achievement 🏃🏃♀️🏅🏅💥
Thanks, yes well, I’m not stumbling along that narrow muddy track again but it was amazing and not going alone was great, the only 2 times i ran that far it was round the streets on my own and unplanned, it was good when we got to the stables we discussed how it went, what we would change next time and how big is an 8 acre field? I have a feeling I will find out soon because i can see us running round it
I’ve always loved running but 15k in 2 days probably wasn’t sensible coming back from a heavy cold that won’t quite go! tomorrow is definitely rest day, no good going back to work after my break exhausted
Parker is a nightmare, he’s a thief, so far we have a teddy bear, lots of bits of silicone and this morning he brought a paintbrush home, goodness knows where he’s getting all this stuff from. The run was great and after wards we planned out the next week and discussed how long before we attempt another 10k
I once read this article about a cat-thief. His owners once put all the stolen items on a rope outside with a message that everybody could try and find their items. Funny though, until he steals something of value of course, haha.
