Sunrise special

Beautiful morning to run today...sun rising over the sea and air temp.9', perfect for me. Started with jacket and thin gloves but as usual discarded them after 10" Today was an 'easy run' which I thought I would add a little extra to. Gave myself the challenge of finding 5 things of beauty to see, 4 things to hear, 3 to smell ect....to help pass the time. Well, the sunrise was no 1 to see, then a beautiful piece of weathered tree trunk, 3 squirrels playing tag, a large parasol mushroom and bracken turned a beautiful orangey brown. Good distraction technique and a change to my music. The run went well and only passed a few dog walkers today. Ended my 50"/ 6k with a cool down swim in the sea. ( Which was definitely warmer than the air). Low tide and not a soul in sight.... Pretty 👌.

I love your challenge! What a lovely idea. Might do that one myself 🙂

And what a gorgeous photo 😍

It makes me wonder what other techniques runners use to aid distraction. I need a range of ideas!

I have a vivid imagination so when I take my music with me (big, epic, orchestral) I imagine I’m starring in my own film and have been a gladiator, warrior, world-saver, heroine……. It works for me! 😂

Well done Today Mormor . That’s a good idea of 5 things to work out on your route. You must be in daylight, not like me pretty dark can’t see much. You are brave going in the sea a cold dip , it’s hard to believe sea warmer than the air temperature. It will wake you up and feeling fresh as a daisy after. Hope you don’t have too far to get home afterwards. I was out in 10 degrees as well but pretty chilly not even the birds up yet. Just a walk for me . I must admit I like colder temperatures as well. Lovely picture 🙂

I just Google the sea temp and it was 12....3 ' warmer than the air! It did feel vaguely tepid! I leave a towel, crocs and dressing gown in the car just in case I'm tempted....the sea is about 5k away so I usually drive there.

😶 I am feeling chilly by reading you dipped into the sea! Cold weather to run in is ok. Just my cold weather kit instead of my warm weather kit. But into 12°C water? Brrrrr! Courageous!

I heat up quite quickly which means I will start itching and get hives if I don't cool down fast at the end of a run. The sea is much more preferable than a cold shower or ice packs on itchy areas. I'm so lucky to live very near the north sea...

Ahh I understand. Luckily I don't get that. I am a real sucker to get into cold water (colder than a hot bath that is). Whenever I go swimming, even in a heated environment in those vacation parcs, it takes me AGES to get into the water 😂. Let alone in the sea! You'd be back home and sipping a coffee by the time I got 1 toe in the water!

What a beautiful photo! I bet it was even more beautiful on the beach 😍 it sounds like a perfect run and a wonderful post-run swim. I also live by the sea but we keep getting warnings to stay off the water because of raw sewage 🤮

Oh dear. I saw news about the sewage but don't think it's on the east coast, fingers crossed. Loving these temperatures

I'm in the southeast, quite a regular occurrence over here 😒We are being so lucky with the weather! Enjoy it while it lasts

Ah what a great run! And a fab sunrise. Your challenge is such a good idea. I’ve done similar but with colours - it really does distract! Conditions sounded ideal for you - these cooler temps are so much nicer 😁🍂⭐️.

There must be lots of distraction techniques out there...I will be trying colours next.. Go through the rainbow or more subtle??

Ooooh rainbow 🌈 to start out with, then maybe getting tougher - a lilac bicycle or something. You’ve definitely inspired me to do more of a nature watch! 😊

Crikey.... I'll be running forever if I'm looking for a lilac 🚲 in the forest.🤔!! Perhaps we need more location appropriate objects?? Reminds me of when the kids were little and I'd send them off on beach hunts looking for the impossible... Respite for me!!

Lol yes you’d be running for weeks looking for a lilac bike in the forest 🤣. I agree, maybe more location appropriate!
