Running is definitely better than working

A beautiful morning, clear and frosty, what better than to do the intervals for wk 2 of the NRC HM plan? I should have done a 15 minute recovery run yesterday but figured that two walks of nearly 3km each (picking up and dropping off my campervan to the auto electrician) were pretty much equivalent so I was raring to go this morning. Then, the fly in the ointment. My business was broken into overnight. I'm 70 miles away so had an excuse not to go, leaving my business partner who lives near to deal with it. Texted him not to interrupt me as I was off for a run, knowing he probably wouldn't see it. He obviously didn't as he rang me mid interval so I ignored him.

Apart from that it was lovely! Calm and still, the mud was frozen, no wind to speak of, just bracing cold air, countryside and the river. The run only took about 14 minutes, which meant I finished in the middle of nowhere (in a good way :) ) so I had to walk the 3km home along the sea wall. This gave me an opportunity to call my partner back while Mr OBK carried on running (my excuse was that I wanted to stick to the plan ;) ) You can just about see him in the picture, to the right of the boat!

I spent the rest of the day dealing with the break in but taking that time to run first was definitely a good decision. Boundaries!

PS in case you think I was being horrible to my business partner, he's actually my big brother so he's used to it 😂😂😂 AND I took over dealing with the break-in during the afternoon so that he could have a well deserved rest.

What a cracking photo! I’m sorry about the break-in, that sucks. But I bet the run helped you deal with it later in the day while your business partner (brother) had a break! That looks like an amazing place to run, and the weather is just right at the moment. 😊😊😊

Lovely photo, and well done for your progress with the plan. Sorry to hear about the break-in, hope your business is soon back to normal.

Thanks, the run really set me up for dealing with what the day was threatening to bring. It was so beautiful out there it put me in a good mood for the rest of the day :)

Oh dear! What a day! I think I may have missed my run after a break in, so well done for going despite that!

Well, the choice was sit at home and fret or go running, being so far away from the site there wasn't much I could do until after the police arrived so I just sort of seized the moment. Poor older brother didn't even get his breakfast :(

Thankfully nothing much has been stolen but a couple of £$&%£*! inconsiderate people have caused a huge amount of totally unnecessary work.

Sorry to hear of the work problems and hope you and your brother recover from its effects asap. But, wow, what a place you went running to help yourself best manage those life dramas with strength and clarity! Gorgeous location and beautiful weather. Just the medicine you needed.

Thank you, moving here was the best move ever (especially as I've had a valid excuse for working from home since before it became a thing 😉)

Thanks, there was a lot of minor damage but nothing much appears to have been stolen. A lot of aggravation for me and my customers and what did the kids who broke in get out of it? Absolutely mindless. I needed that run 😃
