What a glorious day for a run in sunny Sarf London today - a misty cool start with the sun breaking through to a beautiful blue sky and warmth as my run progressed. I set out with no distance in mind, just a slow and steady run to see where my legs could take me. Stopped to take pictures, sip water and generally enjoy being out in the early morning fresh air.
After two easy happy runs this week, my legs kept on going and mentally I was also in a good place. E voila! A long run. My last 10k was on 9th Sept, so I was so happy to see I still had it in me. π
Hope you all have lovely runs this weekend. Take it easy and enjoy the freedom of being able to run I say. πππ

Looks lovely! Sounds like a great run, and so early too! I wonder how long it takes before we learn/believe that taking a bit of a rest or a step back doesn't mean we will automatically lose everything we've achieved before?
I'm still sitting waiting to see how a banana has gone down after a very dodgy tummy last night. Had planned a long run along the canal for this morning, but not sure it's advisable to be that far away from home! Looks lovely out there tho... having read your post I just want to get on with it .... maybe I should just chance it
Oh it was beautiful, Linda. Taking a step back has had so many benefits for me, the best being the enjoyment factor! Itβs a head game, running. Hope your tummy has settled enough for you to run. If not my lovely, thereβs always tomorrow. π xxx
Ahh. Tomorrow I have a rare audience with my son (so long as I buy the roast dinner), so not so easy to fit a long run in as well. I did make it out today and my tummy behaved perfectly. It was gorgeous. Thanks for the inspiration
Hi Sadie, sounds like a lovely run and the photos are great too ππ Itβs a lovely morning out there ππ Iβve been marshalling at Lloyd Parkrun this morning. πββοΈπββοΈLots of shouting out and clapping involved ππππ It was certainly nicer to be in the sun than the shade π
Iβd recommend being a marshal if you canβt do Parkrun for whatever reason. Itβs very rewarding and great fun π
Thanks David. π Sounds like you had a fun morning, too. The sun is glorious today! Park Run is such a great institution - good on you for helping out. πππ
Yay, brilliant run dear VRB, and fast too! I knew youβd be back up there!! Youβre brilliant, you know that? Still an inspiration too. I love your positive outlook, itβs inspiring! When Iβm out running and struggling, I tend to think βif Sadie were here, what would she be saying to me?β Which usually makes me smile
Thanks buddy! Running makes me a far more positive person than I generally am. π Another positive benefit of running. It didnβt feel fast (and do add on a few more minutes for the water/photo breaks I took). It felt like running meditation, because I tried to maintain a steady pace.
What would I be saying if I was running with you? All kinds of jibber jabber no doubt! But mostly, βcome on Neil, you can do this, slow and steady buddy!β
Haha - actually slow and steady is good for me at the moment.
My leg was hurting in the night and hurting this morning, but I took some ibuprofen when I woke up, haven't taken any since and it's been fine. Most odd. If it annoys me too much more I think I might just chop it off!!
Sadie that sounds a glorious run, and the blue skies today are gorgeous without being too hot. Your 10k was just waiting to happen again , well Done ππββοΈπ
Thanks Mitch! π It was just a short glitch in the Matrix, but I have learned what to do if it happens again! It was chilly, but I soon warmed up. Back to long running tights now, but still in T-shirt! xxx
That is so great! I love all the pictures, but especially the picture with the mist. Nothing like a brisk morning and a wonderful run to make the day start out perfect!
Thanks Sask! Ah yes, the autumn mists are out in full force now and the park looks so magical first thing in the morning. It was a truly life-affirming run. π xxx
