Best laid plans

Set off Monday morning intent on doing Wk 2 C25K run as part of my gentle return to running following a ligament strain. Only problem was the massive blister on the back of my heel which exploded when I was out walking on Sunday.

Put a fresh plaster on and set off. It soon became apparent that it wasn’t helping much, to the extent I was limping. My worry was that this would aggravate the dodgy ligament due to my uneven gait. Running though, that was fine. So instead of doing six 90 second runs I ran for 20 minutes or so. I deliberately only did about half my normal distance but am glad to report that neither the ankle nor the blister got any worse and it felt great to just run again. No aches or pains next day, what a relief!

I planned on running today (Wednesday) but the forecast is hot so might leave it until Thursday when the blister should be a lot better and I’ll be able to try out my new running socks 😄

That’s great you got a run in and didn’t aggravate the ligament, blisters aren’t nice though

Blooming heck! I'm amazed you even tried to run, it would never have occurred to me! Anyway, glad you got a run in, keeping my fingers crossed that the new socks help. Look after that blister though. And the ligament 😊

Thanks for reminding me to buy some blister plasters for my long run on Sunday. I don’t need them often, but they have been really effective when I have used them.

I wonder if they sell ones that are the size of a 10p piece? Can't seem to find a big enough plaster 😩

They do. Just googling, Boots have an own brand and compeed too. There may be others, but certainly in a range of sizes which form a sort of jelly cushion over the blister which I found really helpful.

Thanks. I'll wander up to the chemist and see if they have anything. Maybe get some as well for the blisters that I got from the new shoes I had to buy because of the blister on the heel.

Best wishes for a pain-free (and evenly balanced) run with your new socks.🤞
