Not going to bore you too much but just to let you know I’m getting prepared for my first big chipped race in the Bristol 10k on Sunday. I bought the new capris before I knew I was doing this and then dashed out to buy a new top to go with them this week. The orange is very bright. My snail and Kat family badges will be coming with me to remind me of my lovely VRBs and admins and the c25k Graduation badge will remind me how I got to be doing this amazing thing. cheekychipmunks and I have been private messaging each other excitedly (never!) and we’ve all arranged meet up before the race. We won’t be running together now because I am in an earlier wave. UpTheStanley is rather shocked to be in the first wave. He says he’ll start at the back of his wave to let the young/club runners go like greyhounds .
It’s going to be a bit cool before the run, so we are going to raid the bags I’ve set aside for charity and take something warm that we can throw away once we get going. I saw this happening at the London marathon and couldn’t believe people would ever get their clothes back again. But no, it all goes to charity afterwards. What a brilliant idea.
The great thing is we also get a last minute stay with friends near Bristol on their wedding anniversary weekend. Running is getting us out and about and seeing real (non-running) people too.
Have a lovely weekend everybody and enjoy your running wherever you are

Have a fab. time, you will love it. Soak up the atmosphere and enjoy. It is such a thrill. I was fascinated when I did my first race...there was no chatter once we set off, just the sound of thousands of feet hitting the road, it's mesmerising. Happy running 🙂👏🌻
Go Dexy5 ! Go cheekychipmunks ! Go UpTheStanley ! And everyone else running this weekend. Perfect colour match 😳. Your followers are sure to see you coming...
Thanks theoldfellow, that’s the idea! But I have a green race number so that won’t match at all, but I don’t think I’ll swap it for Stanley’s orange one.
I’m good thanks. Keeping fit, but not able to run again yet, and starting to think I may stick to 5ks once I hopefully can. Distance doesn’t seem to do me any favours...😊❤️
I hope you are back on the road again soon; I miss your posts. But 5ks are good if you can get back there again. I don't think I'll do more that 10K, and I'm not sure how often that will be. Take care my friend.
I’ve done 3 10k, 77 mins 21 s, 77 mins 12s and one that turned out to be 9.5k 73 minutes. So I’m hoping to do less than 77 minutes. I’d be delighted with 75 😃
How exciting!! I live in Keynsham so not too far away..maybe next year? Have a fantastic time! Loving the bright kit! Maybe some orange lippy to go with?
Just down the road lol! I have signed up for the local Keynsham park run but have yet to pluck up the courage to go. I will have to get my head into getting up and going on a Saturday! Have a wonderful time in Bristol..I used to live there as well
I think getting up for a 9.00 run was the hardest bit for me, and then you get addicted, and then you end up getting up even earlier to run elsewhere. A funny old thing, parkrun. Do you realise you are both CCM? 😀
Good luck lovely peeps for your run tomorrow!! I will be thinking of you in your lovely bright kit! Have a wonderful time catching up with friends as well..perhaps a few G&T's in celebration?
You are all ready for the off Dexy5, those shoes look lovely, just a pity that you won't be running with cheekychipmunks because you are in a earlier wave, but at least you will meet her before and after the event, as for UpTheStanley, that shows you how good he is as the organisers have put him in the first wave with all the young gazelles.
May I wish you, UpTheStanley and cheekychipmunks all the very best for your running on Sunday. 😊 🏃
You won't come in dead last cheeky, not sure what time if any that you are hoping for, the main thing is to go out there and enjoy the run and have a wonderful day . 🏃 😊 👍
You won't be last cheeky, There are some people walking and run/walking. You will be running all the way, and seeing your family on the route will spurt you on. I bet you get a PB.
This is true Dexy, I won’t be walking any of it, that’s for sure! My family will be there, plus my awesome 4hrs 2mins London Marathon finisher friend will be too hopefully! She’s going to watch from the Portway (runs under the Suspension Bridge) There won’t be so many crowds there. 😀
Very colourful 😃 You and Cheekychipmunks excited? Never 😂 Looking forward to the reports and photos. I was walking Ben past our local restaurant yesterday and spotted a poster for the inaugural Bergerac 10k on 19 May. Rushed home to enter only to find I have to have a certificate from my GP to confirm I am fit to run. Don’t have a GP in France. I am gutted 😢
photos will follow! I remember this from a post of someone else holidaying in France. Seems a bit Elf & safety gone mad to me. Is there a doctor close by that you can visit? You never know when you might need one in future. They might even be a runner.
Might just pop into the health centre in the next village and ask. Closing date for entries isn’t until 16th. I can’t work out if there are goodies, but it’s only €14 to enter!
@Sandie1961 It's worth trying to see a french GP. I got lucky with a french doctor who is a runner and he wrote up a couple of certs for me. You can even get the medical certificates online but of course you pay for them. Try googling various running forums and you might get the names of some doctors. It's all to do with insurance apparently,
What great colours! You're ready, run wise and fashion wise 😁. Enjoy your event, take some pics and please tell us all about it! I can't wait to read all the reports.
Thanks Ali, hoping the orange will add zest. Still waiting for cheekychipmunks to snap her outfit so I know what to look for. It wont be an immediate post as I need to spend quality time with our friends after putting us up.
I’m still faffing Dexy! Definitely black capris and black slinky Brooks trainers - but pink or blue vest top, orange short sleeved top or pink short sleeved top? Almost certainly vest ..... 🤔🤔🤔🤔
I am so excited for you....have an amazing day and give cheekychipmunks a hug from me..and UpTheStanley too....wear those badges with pride and take them to that finish line...just enjoy..you will totally rock it!
Thanks dear floss, there will be bands along the route just like the London Marathon so I think I’ll just soak it all up. 🏃♀️🐌🎶🐌🎶🐌🎶. I never thought I would be doing something like this last May when I graduated C25K.
Have a fantastic run Dexy, UpTheStanley and cheekychipmunks ! After the anti-climax of St George's, this will be just what you need, Dexy! Look forward to hearing all about it on Sunday 😀
Thanks paulanoo, I think I am beyond excited. 😂. I hope your health is picking up again now. The size 7 shoes have done a 9.5 k so I’m sure they’ll be fine.
Go Dexy 👏👏👏. Just so excited for you . Loving the outfit 💖💖💖. Run happy lovely you and have fun 🏃🏼♀️😀. Can’t wait to read your post. Photos please too.
