Hi everyone, I’m pleased to report I finished the London Summer Run this morning. I wasn’t fast and it wasn’t pretty, but I finished!👍
It was very well organised. Everyone was pleased to be out running together again. The music, bands, choirs and marshals were great. The polar bears, penguins and flamingos were a fun addition too!

Oh, well done David - fab medal too! Me and my husband had originally been going to do this but for a variety of reasons changed our minds. Glad it was a good day! 🙂
Well done! Doesn't need to be pretty. Taking part is what matters most.Love those photos - reminds me of being in the office. Been working at home now too long (though I don't miss the commute really)
Thanks Birdlady64, the journey up to London Bridge is just like the start of the normal commute I used to do. It felt a bit weird after working from home all this time! 😳 We might find out this month what we’re going to do about returning to the office. 🤔 I must admit I do miss my colleagues (or at least some of them!)😉
Thanks BrianUK. I don’t remember exactly where I found out about this one. I expect if you Google ‘organised running events near me’, or something similar, you can find local events. Otherwise, friends at Parkrun or local running clubs are a good source of information.
The sight of people dressed up as animals always makes me giggle, so I’m not sure I’d be able to run very far with polar bears, penguins and flamingos waddling around 😂
Brilliant David, and I know the London atmosphere will have been amazing and a source of support. All in all, a very memorable experience. As a Londoner, lately to be found running around North West Kent, I have in mind to do a London run if and when I feel I can give a reasonable account of myself - that's one place I really wouldn't want to struggle!
Best wishes for your continued success and enjoyment of your runs.☺️
