Helloooo everyone! Hope you had a good summer. I havenβt caught up on a months worth of posts here, but have seen a few stories of ever increasing distances and decreasing times.
Despite the best of intentions, ie. taking running shoes and Garmin on holiday... a month passed in a blink of an eye with no running. To be fair, I was camping, travelling, climbing, walking, scrambling up and down cliffs, swimming, surfing and so on... (also a bit of drinking and the odd fag π) but it isnβt running. My tan and smile are blinding, but legs, lungs and Vo2 max have all taken a dive.
I knew the comeback run would be painful and it wasnβt pretty. I seem to forget how to pace myself after two days of no running and sure enough, after a month off it was a shambles. Further distracting me was my 9 year old son who I levered off the couch to come with me as βtraining coachβ. He chatted merrily the whole way on his bicycle: βmummy, daddy said if a Nuke hit Canterbury it would reach us here, is that right?β; βmummy, I donβt think I have seen a frog in a clear pond. Have I?β; βmummy, look, squirrels. Look mummy!β; βmummy, why do people drop litter out of their carsβ; βmummy, does a fast heart rate mean you are healthier because mine felt slow this morningβ etc etc etc. It was relentless. I definitely wasnβt conversational and had to pause a couple of times to give a proper reply! Bless him. I feel very lucky, just wish I was a bit fitter so could enjoy the chatter more!
3k felt really hard so I feel like a complete fraud posting in Bridge. But Iβll stick around because you are all an inspiration. π
