Vitality London 10K

Hi running friends, I did my first ‘real’ event for over a year at the weekend - the Vitality London 10K which was actually held at Hatfield House in Hertfordshire.

I stayed at a local hotel on both Saturday and Sunday night, so I had plenty of time to get there on Sunday morning. There were two separate versions; a normal run at 9:00am and a socially distanced run at 10:45am.🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ I ran at 10:45am but I was late starting because of faffing around at the start - I even had to catch up with the tail-walkers!🤣 I joined a small group at the back and I was doing a mixture of walking and running🏃‍♂️ due to recovering from injury. Happily I got round OK although it wasn’t pretty or fast.😊

As is always the case, the atmosphere was great and everyone was so supportive👏👏 I really enjoyed being out there again with other runners. I’m looking forward to Parkrun restarting at the end of the month🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️

Happy running everyone👍

Glad to see that you felt fit enough to do the 10k run David, and got to experience running with real people again. How great is that. I’ve been to a craft fair at Hatfield House and don’t recall any hills so that makes running a bit easier 🤔. Well done for travelling that far from Bognor, but making a weekend of it makes it more worthwhile . We did consider doing the same, but are hoping we will be able to do the real thing in London next year - 3rd time lucky 🍀

Bling, bling, glorious bling. 🏅

Thanks Dexy5, I’ve signed up for the Vitality Big Half in August. I’m not sure I’ll be able to run the whole way but there’s no shame in walking if you need to! 😊

Thanks Dexy5, I’ll just take it slow and steady and see what happens. I’m running on my birthday 🎂 so definitely going to celebrate 🥳🥂afterwards!

Yay David, so glad you got to do it! There’s such a buzz running with others, all as excited as you are, and I bet that bling felt extra well deserved. 🏅 Hey, at least you got some …. ⚽️ 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 😩🥺

Enjoy the restart of PR. I’m so excited, and I even got myself one of those new Back Together wrist bands! 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♂️

Thanks Cheekychipmunks, I think I’ll invest in the new wristband too! After the first Parkrun I’ll do some volunteering as I’m not far off my ‘25 volunteer’ t-shirt. It’ll go rather well with my ‘50 Parkrun’ version! 🙂👍

Yes it will! I think I’m on 19 volunteers now, so I’ll be aiming to get my 25 teeshirt next too. 😀
