No real race plan as such but was determined to go sub 45 minutes...
Achieved! π²
Very happy with that!

The night before, we managed a pre-meet at the pub for a drink and a natter π Always nice to talk running with those who know and understand what it's all about ππ and arrange the post race meet location at the bandstand.
Well today was glorious weather and an early start meant we could finish before the midday sun.
The course starts with hills in the first third or so, following with a steady downhill onto a long flat section, and winding around town where the church William Shakespeare is buried, the RSC , and finishing near the big wheel.
I did this race pre covid in 2019 where I broke my duck for a sub hour 10k so I feeling confident that a new PB was on the cards with a stretch goal of coming under the 45 minutes mark.
It felt very strange to be in the 'elites' pen for 30 - 45 minutes estimated finish time! So nice to have and hear crowds urging you on at the start, during, finish, etc. And a 200m to the finish marker helped me see I was likely to finish only seconds under that stretch goal. ππ
Finishing early also meant I was able to cheer on kitten and Tailchaser on the finishing straight Tails303
We all briefly met at the bandstand to celebrate our achievements before Time_Lord and companion had to skip off to sort their car out.
So we said our goodbyes and took on ice-cream and chips for recovery π€£
PS. Apologies Tails303, I can't seem to un-tag you!
