Running on holiday

Been in Burgundy for 5 weeks now and return to UK next Wednesday. But pleased to say I’ve been keeping up with my running. When we got here in mid July, it was really hot and humid. So I started running at 06:30 before it got warm. The village is quiet at the best of times but apart from a few feral cats, saw nobody.

I ran to the next little ville called Sancy which is 4km and then ran back. This was after a five minute warm up and running easy for 40 minutes and 5 minutes warm down followed by stretches. No aches, pains or niggles. Just the cold that I experience after a run. The total distance run in the time (40 minutes) was 8.3km so I’m almost at the 10km. I feel I could do the extra but will only increase the time a bit when I get home.

Then we had a five day trip to Millau where again I ran at 06:30 this time on a circular route past the campsite. There was a lovely river Le Dourbie, where we had some lovely swims in the cold but bearable water, which was good for me post-run. Now it is still darkish at 6:30 so have delayed my start to 07:00. Although we go home on Wednesday, I’m quite happy to return home and getting back into my home-running routine.

Good for you for keeping going on holiday! That looks beautiful 😍

I love tourist running and really miss it ☹️ You see so many interesting things in a new area, as you clearly have.

Enjoy your remaining few days.

Thank you, Irishprincess. It was lovely running in little French villages, including Roquefort (where the cheese is made). We had a small tour of a cheese-making ‘factory’ and bought some to take home.

The river Tarn (or possibly Dourbie) from Roquefort.
