Mindful running

I didn’t really know what to call this, I started with ‘out of the grey came blue’ because as we arrived at the park there was a bit of blue sky, then ‘Pink’ because on a whim I downloaded Pink Floyd The Wall to my garmin, then I gave up trying to decide and just ran

First kilometre 7.45 wow

Today not so many people dogs and bikes in the park, a couple of new water features though.

Speed up slow down check the time and let the music wash over me, take in the trees, fallen leaves, clouds, distant view of the downs, this was being a lovely run,

As we ran yesterday we decided we’d just do what we could and take note of our bodies, stop when we’d had enough or half an hour

Half hour up, 3.40k for me, further than same time yesterday and very happy

Decided to walk home, Willow came back in the car and made the tea

Not running not walking, probably jeffing, didn’t quite make it running to the top of the railway bridge, all thoughts were silent

Got to our close and ran from end to end, decided to keep going through our park next to where we live, walked the length of the path stopped to stroke a chocolate labrador at the end, turned and sprinted back and 1.6k in 15 minutes so all in all 5k in just over 45 minutes, bare arms warm and happy

What a lovely run what a lovely weekend and.... drum roll.... today I’m 10 MONTHS SMOKE FREE!!

Thank you everyone who has ever read my posts and have a fabulous Sunday VRB’s 😘

Congrats on the smoke free life you're living now 👍

Sounds like a lovely run for you today. Bare arms? 😱 It's cold and wet up here in the North - still trying to motivate myself to even get out there 😬 🤭

Sounds lovely.

The weather this morning was filthy, almost enough to make me glad to be on the IC

First Km 7.45? Wow indeed! That’s brilliant Sola and a great time for your 5k too! Just think what you’ll achieve in another 10 months of your smoke free life! Huge congrats for that!

Thank you, I found before if i pushed too hard my calf got sore and for a while i could only hobble so it’s a bit faster and see how long i can keep going at that speed

Thank you

Our run yesterday was a bit bleh so i wanted another go, Willow shaved half a minute off his 3k too so it was better all round today

in reply toSueAppleRun

That's brilliant for him! Half a minute...blimey. He says 'jump' and I'll say 'How high!'

Ah WillowandSola!! 🤗 Now, I definitely think you did that run the right way 😁. Who wouldn’t want to savour that view? I’m a Jeffing queen these days and I’m surprised by how much I like it. It sure is great for much longer runs! I absolutely love your posts!! You’re both amazing!! 🥰🥰 And I’m sounding the celebration trumpet for 10 months smoke free!! 🦾🦾🦾!! Brilliant!! 💥 💥 💥!! ❤️

Congratulations on your 10 months of no smoking W&S, I’d say you can declare your self a no smoker and I bet your lungs are happy.

It’s a good job you didn’t stop the run when you started walking home - you had so much more in the can.

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply toDexy5

Thanks Dexy we were pushing too hard and seemed to have numerous niggles, so decided to stick with half hour, yesterday it was busy in the park and came home a bit fed up so decided to go again today, we’ve been running about 18 months now so agreed to just do what felt comfortable but i was feeling so good at the end i decided to walk/run home and get the 5k

Now feeling we’ve had a great weekend so am ready for work tomorrow

Great running and its strange how mild it is considering we are in November.

I can't believe that's 10 months already since you quit smoking. Go you👏🥳

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply toBuddy34

Doesn’t the time fly? It’s very mild and running with my hoodie tied round my middle feels strange when every dog walker is wearing winter coats but feels great

Oh yes I see them all. Hats, scarves, gloves and heavy jacket. I'm in a tshirt sweating 🤣

What an inspiring post 😁 congrats on the non-smoking Sola and I hope it's made your running more enjoyable than it would have been otherwise. You sound like you've had a great day and worked out what you want to be doing at the moment 👍 and you both had a great run 😁 loving the Pink Floyd btw.....

SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply toLittleoyellow

Thank you, Willow tends to run faster and I can usually carry on further, sometimes it just feels right to keep going, it’s great to arrive home to a cup of tea too

It’s been a lovely weekend thanks
