We’re have been in lovely Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne in Corréze since Sunday and have been out three times; Monday, Wednesday and today. It’s been very hot here ranging from 30°-38° and the lowest temperature being this morning at 18°. So I’ve been running at 6:45 or first light.
The roads are pretty quiet luckily but as it’s still quite dark I take care to wear lots of white and reflective strips. I am limiting the runs to 30 minutes due to the heat so am averaging just over 5km. Tomorrow, we are heading south to Marseillan on the med. When we were there last year at this time, it was quite chilly at 7:00 so I’m quite looking forward to running there. Feel very privileged to be able to run in such wonderful surroundings!

🍏Beautiful Area. . Looks so serene in your photo. I have had a taste of running in hot weather in Miami. The only way I managed as well was to run at dawn. Well done on doing 3 runs. Hope Marseilles is cooler for you. Ooh lovely to swim in the med if you are a swimmer!! Enjoy all the delicious food & markets.. a wonderful place for a holiday.
Thanks! It’s Marseillan rather than Marseilles. It’s the starting point of the Canal du Midi and is a charming little town. Marseillan’s temp is forecast to be slightly lower this coming week at 27°-28°. Still warm enough to make sure I run early morning. Can’t wait for moules frite washed down with chilled rosé.
I’d love to do a canal trip on the canal du Midi. We have a motorhome and we enjoy taking a few days to get to Marseillan stopping at aires on the way. We spend a lot of time in Nievre in Burgundy and walk and cycle the paths along the canal du Nivernais snd often watch the boats. What a lifestyle that must be.
Us too. Been coming here since 1994. The Breton Galetterie is still there. It’s lovely sitting enjoying a coffee in the town square looking at the 12th Century church and wondering about all the life that has passed by!

Oh yes!!!! Thank you... that has taken me right back... we were in our tin tent right by the river where the bridge was all lit up at night... just beautiful !!!
Just where we are right now. The little bridge across the river is part of my 5 minute warm up. It’s lit when I set off but lights are off on my return.🙂
Here’s a photo taken just now to bring back some memories for you!

Maximal temperatures in Marsellian are due to be 28°C today and tomorrow and on Sunday it should be a little cooler. It should be OK to run early in the morning. Here in Paris we have a heat wave with maximal temperatures of 34°C today and 36°C tomorrow and it is too hot to do anything. Have a good holiday 👍👍😀
Thank you. I’ve been in Paris at the temperatures you describe and it was pretty intolerable. Can’t imagine running through Parisian streets at any time at those temps. But early morning in a nice park would be ok.
Really nice photo. I live in a little village near Blois, on the north bank of La Loire, half way between Tours and Orléans. It is in the low to mid 30°C this week. I am running in the morning or evening to try to avoid the worst of the heat, even so, it was still quite hot at 18h00 yesterday evening!
Thanks for liking the photo. You live in a lovely area of France. I prefer running in the early morning to the evening. I aim to set off at 6:45 but it’s still dark now at that time with autumn approaching.
The trees are in full autumnal mode and I love to see the colours change. Autumn is, I think, my favourite season!
