Hiya,

Though I should take 2 rest days after a long run, I have a longer walk planned tomorrow, meaning it was 1 or 3 days rest. So 1 it was. Went out with the plan of doing 5K again and Jeffing it at my usual ratio of 4min30 / 0min30.

I started too fast and dipped into a toxic 10. After the toxic 10, the running did go better, but still felt heavier than my 7K the day before yesterday. Oh well, not all runs can go smoothly, right?

Had to stop and stand on the edge of the road 3 times for cars (amongst which was a Porche without roof who thought they were on a race circuit!) and 1 time for a large group of cyclists (terrorists).

Passed 4 other runners who were all sour lemons. Though the last I don't mind. He was an elderly man and I salute him for running at his age. Couple of people (pedestrians and bikers) said hello back, but a bunch did not.

Finished at 5K with a time of 43:21.

Cheers, Evy

Great run, shame about the grumpy others on your route. Happy running 🤗

Well done, Evy! No, not all runs go smoothly - there’s usually something… I very often start too quickly, more so with Jeffing.

I just feel sorry for any sour lemons on my runs. After all, they’re missing out on the wonderful experience of greeting me 😂

Thanks! And yeah I started too fast, though mostly I can control myself. But I was busy switching my phone to another pocket when I started my run and I think that disrupted my start and caused me to go faster than I wanted.

I do think that maybe having only 1 rest day + a long walk in that rest day might be the cause of the heaviness of the run. Tomorrow another long walk, so not sure yet if I will run the day after tomorrow or not. I'll see...

Yes, it could be the long walk. I actually seem to put more effort into walking than I do running, so I tend not to go on very long walks at all. Maximum 5K.

Your legs could just be feeling a little tired coming straight after a 7k day + long walk day. Maybe you could try taking the two rest days after tomorrow's outing to compare the experiences? Not exactly a 'scientific' methodology but it might give you a handy gauge for the future. You're doing really great, though. Just ignore those sour pusses (I mean, what on earth's the point?)

Yeah, I do know not many people in my home city say hello to one anothet. Mostly I donct try if I am not running. If you say hello to someone while not running, they look at you as if you sprouted a horn. While running though, some people do say hello back. So I just will be happy with those few who do 😁

Great run again and you are getting good times. So envious of you running . I go out early so don’t see many people all the sensible people still cosied up in bed . If I do meet anyone it’s always the same people walking their dogs 🐕 all on leads thank god , would hate one chasing me. Keep it up😊

A couple on bikes passed me today with their dog running loose besides them. But the pooch listened well to them luckily. They also had a cart behind the man's bike to put the pooch in when he got tired.

But despite being an animal lover, I always feel myself tense a bit when I pass a dog, leashed or not. After all, running past can always trigger something in a dog!
