Weekday, 5K day. This time in 43:33. With the (stupid) hour change it is already darkening when I run after work and the weather made it even darker with black clouds above my head.
I did decide to pull out my little warning light to put around my arm on my next runs after work. A part of my route is on the small bike road right besides a busy traffic road where the cars ride 70 km/h. And I always feel a bit unsafe running there, let alone when it is darkening. So I hope my little red warning light will help me to be more visible.
Maybe Friday another run, maybe not. Might skip to a shop on Friday, otherwise on Saturday, for something running related 😜
I think my hydration vest has some reflective parts on it, should try to check it... It is white though, so already quiet visible I think. But I might add a fluorescent vest over it, still have one somewhere I think...
I’ve got some million mile lights that attach to my flip belt for pre dawn runs. Red for the back & white for the front. No batteries to charge up as they’re powered by movement! It’s more to be seen than to see as I don’t run anything too remote or technical in the dark! 👍🏻
Yeah I don't need any lights to see either, because when I run it is still light enough for me to see well. Indoors you need to turn on the lights, but outdoors you can still see enough. It's just to be seen, as part of my route is right next to a piece of forest on a bike road with only 5 centimeters between the bike road and the busy car road.
I got some fluorescent tape that I stuck all over an old jacket I keep for winter running. But I liked the idea of lights powered by movement... That would keep me moving!
Might invest in some fluorescent tape too and maybe an extra light...
Well done for getting out there Evy.
Please be careful of running by the traffic Evy. On my route the other day I had big lorries belting past me which made me feel very uncomfortable even in the daylight so I decided not to run that route again.

I know, it is not a safe route, at least that part. But at this moment I don't see any other way I can change my route. Will have to sniffle the maps to see how else I can change the route. But the problem is, now I already go through a little piece of dark forest. If I change it in order not to have that bike road, I'd have to go through more dark forest and past abandoned buildings with no roads around. Not my cup of tea either 😑
Yay Evy! Well done 👍. Do get something reflective or hi viz. Want you to be safe!!! I like the sound of your forest - bet it can get a bit creepy though 😁.
Thanks. It is not a big forest, but it is creepy 😜
UPDATE: I ordered today something existing out of 2 shoulder-straps and a waist-strap to wear over your clothing. It is fully reflecting and there are on the chest 4 white lights and on the back 4 red lights. I hope this will be more than sufficient for my dusk runs 😀
