Some things are worth repeating...for me, anyway:)

Well people...It's me again.

I am holding fast to my two of my Quest targets and I have already got two runs in this week, ( one of my targets was one run a week ). One in the sunshine and one in the rain this morning...and despite the dampness, I enjoyed it so much.

Why? Because I am keeping to my second and main target of, taking the time to run, and enjoying it.

I got wet this morning, it was chillier than Monday, but as I finished the last bit of the run, I found myself, once more, singing along to my ABBA running buddies,

Singing is not something I have felt much like doing over the last year and a half and, from my October blip until I repeated C25K again, not at all. My past whinging posts bear testament to that )

This morning, though , I wanted to sing. (In my head, IannodaTruffe , as I do maintain the pace of holding a conversation, but not being able to sing out loud).

That in turn ,made me recall a post from way back.... and I make no apology for repeating the truly awesomely, awful rendition of Thank You for the Music, that I posted...

healthunlocked.com/couchto5.......

To the tune of Thank You for the Music... and as ever... massive apologies to ABBA.

I'm nothing special, in fact I'm a bit of a bore

If I say SLOW and STEADY, you've probably heard it before.

But I have a talent and one that's such fun,

'Cause I have discovered that I'm able to run

I'm so grateful and proud

All I want is to sing it out loud.

----

So I say, thank you for the running, the runs I'm taking,

Thanks for all the friends I'm making

We all can live without runs, I know, in all honesty,

But what would life be

Without a run in the sun, who are we?

So I say thank you for the running

For giving it to me.

----

I started this plan walking faster than I was able to run

Mmmm... but with SLOW and STEADY the adventure was quickly begun

We all know the history, of the C25K start

But who'd ever think that this could capture a heart.

Like a gentle run can...

And I am absolutely and completely a fan.

----

So I say, thank you for the running, the runs I'm taking,

Thanks for all the friends I'm making

We all can live without runs, I know, in all honesty,

But what would life be

Without a run in the sun, who are we?

So I say thank you for the running

For giving it to me.

----

I've been so lucky... I am the snail with the Golden shell,

I want to sing it out to everybody,

What a joy , what a life, what a chance!

----

Thank you for the running, the runs I'm taking,

Thanks for all the friends I'm making

We all can live without runs, I know, in all honesty,

But what would life be,

Without a run in the sun, who are we?

So I say thank you for the running

For giving it to me.

Thank you, every single one of you, who have been there for me, every step of the way and got me back to this point; still slow and steady, but definitely getting there:)

Floss x

Floss, that’s beautiful… Thank you for the music and thank you for the run, slow and steady wins everything because we can keep going and you taught so many of us just that.

Its does doesn't it.? Wherever we wish to be, safely and mostly having had fun ! T

It took me ages to warm up and after our cycle ride later, with a picnic in a rain shower I had to have a shower to get warm again , ( cannot believe it is August) but it was a fabulous day. Lots of singing and smiles:)Thank you x

Oh, dear, OF! What a nice run in rain! I ran in a mosquito outfit today (because I am sick of being bitten. ) The humidity is horrible--93% here today and the temperature seems close to that although it is not....

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministrator60minGraduate in reply to LiisaM

Oh goodness! I do not blame you... those pesky biting things are dreadful! A runner on another forum who is up in Scotland, where every kind of biting thong has its day... recommended Smidge to me, ( got mine off Amazon) and it seems to really work! You are doing so well... stay steadyand slow and safe :) x

I actually saw a snail when I was running 8K on Wednesday morning, that 🐌 snail did not overtake me, I would say that at the ".speed" he was going, it would take about a week to complete 5K. 😊 🐌

Super well done for picking yourself up and getting back out there OF. Perhaps when the time is right a few of us here could get together and record that version of the song. The lyrics are great! I’m sure there are many musical people on here. 🧐🤷‍♂️😮🤔😅

You keep the singing in your head. I tried singing out loud the other day and I am pretty sure I was to be glad of the weather keep all other folks indoors! 😹 First and last time I tried it!

I took some valuable advice after posting a while ago when I was feeling that I wasn’t running further faster… my last 3 runs I’ve just left the house and off I go, no real plan of where I’ll go, kept the pace slow ( and I mean slow). I can honestly say that I enjoyed the runs, mostly round about 5K around 50mins, but didn’t feel the pressure I was putting on my self. Thanks for your inspiration. Still new to this running game, but I think I’m starting to look forward to it.
