Hiya,
Went out today at 10 am. 19 degrees in the shade, but feeling like 26 or so in the sun. And ofcourse there is no shade on my route. At thecoast today, so back in my beloved polders between the fields.
Loads of sport-cyclists in groups who train here and who hardly pay attention to the lone runner. I like to call them cycling terrorists. The last group warned each other yelling 'RUNNER!' and it made me feel a tad proud. I am looked at as a runner! To thank them I stopped and crawled in the small border at the side and they thanked me back.
Also a few cars (the road is just big enough for 1 car to closely pass 1 runner or 1 cyclist), a bunch of people on regular city bikes and a few other runners who dared to run in the heat.
I thought I started out slow, until I looked at my watch when it buzzed for the first kilometer. 8,49 min/km, which is fast for my first kilometer. I was a bit afraid that I might not be able to run long, having started this fast. But my fear was ungrounded. I got negative splits, except on my last 900 meters and trust me, I did not consciously go for negative splits!
As said, it was warm and I came home red legged and red faced. But the running went actually very well, despite my breathing feeling a bit laboured. I was really happy with how the run felt ๐ธ.
Splits: 8:49 - 8:37 - 8:31 - 8:19 - 8:14 - 8:20
Time: 50:00
Distance: 5,90 km
Cheers, Evy
