It has been a while, I have not run for 3 or 4 weeks in order to give my achy knees some rest. The rest did nothing to alleviate the achiness, so I decided to go run again.
The plan was a slow Slow Jogging 30 minutes, Jeffing as always. The plan was not followed. For starters, I thought to do a straight run without Jeffing as I would be Slow Jogging and might be able to run the whole time. But more was not followed...
In the end I ran 5 km in 44 minutes. I started Slow Jogging, but every kilometer my pace increased. I got some nice negative splits, but I did not stick to my plan. By the end I was as far from Slow Jogging as a pizza is from healthy food.
The result is my groin aches, my ankle aches and I feel beat. On the other hand I do am proud of myself. I think this is the first time I ran 5K without Jeffing! Maybe it was not the best idea after 3 or 4 weeks of no running, I'll feel it tomorrow I guess ๐.
Itโs always a great booster when we get that first 5K done after a period of no running, so youโve put a tick in that box ๐
Itโs probably to be expected to have a few aches and pains. Rest up, stretch, foam roll, ice if necessary and see how you feel in a few days. But it might be a good idea to ease back gently and do what you first intended with a walk/run approach.
Cheers to you Evy, a good 5K run for you after a break from running, congratulations on those negative splits, that's a thing that I have never achieved running a 5K although looking at the splits for my not parkrun this morning the final kilometer was the quickest at 6.13 min/km, onwards and upwards for you.
Well done on your 5km without Jeffing especially your splits๐๐. I wouldnโt call your time slow jogging . Lovely picture as well where u ran. ๐๐
No, it certainly did not end in slow jogging ๐น. I did start out as such though, but I guess my body wanted to go faster. I do think I will try again in 2 days to do some proper slow jogging for 30 minutes. Fingers crossed!
Well done BlackScorpion, good to see you back! Thatโs a brilliant run especially as you took a little break, hope the aches have eased off now. Thatโs a beautiful photo, I love the poppies (I think thatโs what they are). ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
Yes, they are poppies in a wheat field. But my phone cam can't zoom in well, so... I was very stiff in the upper legs for 2 days. But it seems better today. I planned 2 days of rest anyhow, so. Should go out today, fingers crossed!
