A (Very) Early Morning 5K Run πŸŒžπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

So the forecast was for a hot one today so an early morning run was on the cards .

The prediction was 14 degrees at 05:00 and 17 by 07:00 so my plan was to leave the house at 05:30 .

Up at 5 and it felt warm in the house despite an open window and a fan in the bedroom (an electrical fan , not some weirdo 🀣)

Anyway, cup of tea made Misty the Cat must have heard me and came in for some breakfast , (pic of Misty the cat included)

Lightest running kit on , Dynamics done and out of the door at 05:35.

It was so pleasent on my warm up walk , lovely cooling breeze which felt nice in a running vest .

I decided to do the NRC recovery run , not that I needed to recover from anything but it was just about 35 minutes so great for a 5K run

My watch had locked on straight away , thanks I think to the tip from nowster to 'Synch' before going out ! πŸ‘

I wanted to set off with a pace around 8min/Km and achieved 7:52 on the first split so that's fine .

The one grumble I have with the forerunner 45 is that the instantaneous pace is a bit laggy !

I've learnt to live with it but it's a little frustrating at times .

Getting settled now coming into the 2nd K and also up to temperature !

The sun is already getting above the tree tops and it's warming up !

I notice a couple of hot air balloons up !

It's perfect for them at this time before the ground heats up too much and the thermals become active !

No pictures of the balloons so i have included a picture of the one I used to own and fly .

This 2nd K split came out at 7:43

Getting warm now and the uphill towards the church into the sun , I can feel the temperature picking up but try and maintain a slight increase in pace , the last part of this split is a slight downhill and the pace comes out at a slightly quicker 7:32

The next part of the run is again up and down and tricky to keep a steady pace but this part is at least sheltered from the now rising sun and the pace comes out at 7:24

I'm getting quite warm now I come out of the shelter and on to the last Km

I am picking the pace up again and have plenty left in the tank as I started nice and slow ,

Round the loop of the last Km to finish with a final split of 6:31

I'm happy with this run as I managed to get it done before it was too hot , also happy with the splits .

Back home for some water and the kettle on for a mug of tea .

Breakfast and shower to come 😁

Happy running !

Haha, Vicks is a good idea ! They certainly won't like that !Misty has a game where she tries to run around the lounge as quick as she can without using the floor 🀣

Our old cat would be the same, we rehomed him from a rescue centre when he was about 9 but he still tried to bite us. Luckily for us he had very few teeth πŸ™‚ he was the most loving cat, we still miss him every day 😻

Ah what a super run, well done. Wouldn’t it be lovely to be up in a balloon today? I had meant to do the same as you and get out early but slept really badly, even with my fan (like yours, not a stalker πŸ˜†). Hopefully I can do it tomorrow instead. It’s amazing how hot it gets so quickly, you did well to beat it today! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Thank you !It was so nice at that time .

I also didn't sleep too well , never do in the heat but had already decided 2 days ago that i would run this morning so that was it ! 😁

And yes I was looking at the balloons with slight envy and remembering when I had mine 😐

Hope you manage to get out tomorrow, 🀞 😁

My heart is totally melting 😍😍😍

What a gorgeous Misty! You should post more often some pics of her (I'm a cat fan girl, hèhè). Did you have a problem with your Garmin? What kind of problem and how does the syncing help? Is it just pairing phone and watch to get the latest stats? I sometimes have a problem that my watch takes long to catch the gps signal...

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to

Thank you, and yes misty is adorable 😁The problem with my Garmin was it took a long time to lock on but this was after an 8 day gap between runs .

nowster suggested synching it with my phone before going out and that appears to work , I now do it each time and locks on much quicker

in reply to Instructor57

Gotto keep this in mind, mine locks slow too...
