Sorry for the late write up. Mrs BC had booked us in for lunch for 12 noon, so no time for posts until now. My post run restaurant brownie was a step up in presentation from my normal; the quinnell of chantilly cream and pistachio was a class above!! Delicious; although I was starving by the time lunch was served so I was really ready to savour anything.
The run? It was sunny, 8c but with a blustery South Westerly wind. As predicted there were some claggy patches, so not ideal (end of excuses). My first 1k has been a bit slow recently so I decided to jog for 5 minutes or so before starting the race. I was glad that I did, as I was immediately confronted with a barbarian hoard running straight at me, social distancing forgotten, clad in footwear ranging from boots to running shoes....I kept out of the way..much better than meeting them on the run. No sign of vitality numbers there.
Eventually I was under starter’s orders and off!!Apart from being snarled at by a tiny white dog of indeterminate breed (doesn’t it know how big MY dog is 🙄 ) the run itself was pretty uneventful. I did keep thinking of VRBs doing their stuff further South which gave me lift, but by halfway I felt that it wasn’t going to be a Pb day, and I was right. 01:03:25 was ok on the day; not bad for an old geezer on a windy morning!! Hope everyone had a great time. Off to look up your posts now 👏👏👏👏👏👏🙂

That’s a great run BC! Very well done indeed! It was certainly quite windy today. But at least you didn’t have the torrential incessant downpours of yesterday that the Hardmoors 55s had 😶🌧🤣
Great post BC - that’s a seriously fancy piece of brownie there! Glad you were able to avoid getting entangled with a marauding horde, fortunately the only horde’s we saw were the local triathlon club out practicing - but it does look weird seeing people running along in wet suits!! Sorry it wasn’t a PB day for you but if I’ve learnt one thing about this running lark in the last year it’s that curiously, there always seems to be another run just round the corner which will be!
Oh I am not bothered about a Pb today OGR.....it was a bracing experience...that will do. Well done on your Pb.....we did tell you and you delivered!! Fantastic 👏👏👏👏👏
Well done to BC on your 10K run today, you deserved that lunch at 12 noon, good time as well, next year if its still the Vitality Virtual 10,000 in October you may get a sub 60 minutes 10K. 🏃♂️
Well done BC, I’m sure you would have gone sub-60 if you had been running with a bunch of us - we will meet (not) again, don’t (not) know where, don’t (not) know when, etc. etc.
Thanks UTS; I might crack it one day, maybe a road run would help. It’s not a big deal though; I am just happy to run and share posts. Keeping the stride short and upping the cadence might pay off at some stage...and keep my knee intact. Congratulations on a fantastic run today; you pace is amazing.
Mmm. That brownie looks good (although having been down to the seaside, my first thought re. the sauce was 'seagull'!!!). Brilliant run despite not being a PB, especially after your recent trials and recuperations - congratulations!!!
Thanks Linda....northern seagulls don’t produce green!!! How do we always end up talking about matters lavatorial! Glad you all had great time down there ..seagulls included!!
It wasn’t hash house harriers looking for trails of flour was it Beachcomber66? It’s definitely best to stay clear of them . Running is the excuse for a good drink up. UTS has joined them a few times with my brother in law. 😂😂
Well done for getting out there on your wedding anniversary. And that brownie looks lovely.....😋
Great run BC. You beat my time, although TailChaser pulled it out of the bag (despite going the wrong way on a course she had designed 😬). Molly really doesn’t look capable of savaging even an irritating little dog 😁 The brownie looks fab!
Comparing times over different courses doesn’t really work anyway Sandie; we all had a great day; all that matters....head to head would be a bit more tense 🙂
Oh, you are wrong about Molly! She is a lovely dog but she doesn’t put up with any nonsense. She doesn’t bite, but she uses her weight, her front paws (like a boxer delivering a hook) and I have seen her bulldoze a staffy right off its feet and onto its back. All accompanied by blood curdling snarls. I just tell her “enough” and it stops. 🦁
Hope so IP. Sticking to my increased cadence and shorter stride; now running 8 spm more and 14cm shorter stride than I used to when I sprinted. Seems to help my knee.
Hi Sask. Yep, it was a good day. I only got down to below 30 minute 5ks by running with others on hard surfaces; this may turn out to be the same. Not a priority; I want to get back up to HM next.
