It was very exciting to be pinning on a number. I felt like a proper runner. We weren't in London of course but I was very excited to be part of a group of 6 runners doing the run 'virtually' in Stratford upon Avon. I am not a 'qualified 10k runner' as I am still working my way through Ju Ju's Magic Plan but I can Jeff 10k. So I started before the others on a route Sandie1961 and I had wandered around yesterday (to make sure we knew where we were going). I got lucky with some of the hills falling on walking segments but not so lucky with others. But the sun was shining and soon I had removed my jacket and was enjoying the tunes in my ears. As I got to just over half way I was expecting to be passed by some of the speedy chaps, and I kept an ear open for the sound of running feet behind me, but they didn't appear. Then as I realised I had only a km to go I thought they are not going to catch me, and like the best of country foxes, I put a spurt on and out-ran those eager hounds. I was delighted with a PB of 1 hour 23 mins and was pleasantly surprised by how much fun it had been. It is amazing how running can be so enjoyable when you don't feel like you are dying. There is a lot to be said for this Jeffing lark!
Thank you Katnap and TailChaser for sorting out the route, and nice to meet you Windoze . Well done to everyone who was running this today, all over the country. So good to feel part of a bigger running family. Here's to meeting on The Mall next time!
