Sorry to put a dampener on things but after BJ's address this evening, parkrun announced that the return of 5k parkrun's in England had been put back again. They will now (hope to) return on July 24th. I suspect that may put us in line with the rest of the UK and possibly the Republic of Ireland.
Ah well, we will get there eventually I'm sure 🤞🤞🤞

Thanks for that information TailChaser, I didn't think that parkrun would start on the 26th June after the announcement today, I hope all the 4 countries of the UK and The Republic of Ireland will resume parkrun on July 24th, by the way, I got my medal and T-Shirt from Vitality today for running the London 10,000 a few weeks ago.
Oh well done Al, it’s a nice shirt this year too 👏👏
Much as it would have been lovely for it to return on the 26th June, it would be much fairer if we all returned together. And we can have a great big virtual party on here when it does!
Sorry damienair your (not)parkrun posts will have to keep going for a bit longer yet.
Ah TC, I think we should keep the old Saturday morning run reports going anyway. It centralises them. We can all just add in our parkrun reports. By the way, I’ve been really struggling over the past few months. Lost my mojo. Lack of motivation and all that malarkey. I was even after losing so much fitness that I couldn’t run a full 5K without a walking break or 3. But this evening for the first time in an awful long time I ran a full 5K. I wasn’t fast, just under 34 minutes but I was thrilled 😁. 8 minutes slower than I was 18 months ago, but it has ignited something. With the possibility of a 24th of July return of parkrun I’m going to get back, I have a goal again. Yahoo!
I do wonder if the heat contributes to what we perceive to be our mojo. I struggle to do the distances I did when it was not that hot. And that’s probably not a bad thing.
Ah that’s a pity. It would be great though if England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the South of Ireland all returned together. Things are going well here now, vaccine roll out was very slow to start but is catching up on the UK now, large hospitals are Covid free and thankfully only about 20 patients in ICU for the Republic of Ireland. Outdoor sporting events are kicking off and at the start of July indoor dining will be a thing. So hopefully by July 24th parkrun will be a thing too.
That’s great news Damien. It must be so frustrating seeing things getting going over here and you still can’t socialise indoors. At least it’s not such a big deal this time of year.
Fully jabbed now, and have started my neighbour on C25K, so we’re doing runs together. It’s keeping me motivated, but means I have just reached week 3 again 😀
