So I was undecided if to run or not today as I was a bit stiff from gardening and fence painting yesterday (Not my favourite pastime) πŸ˜‚

It was 3 days since my last run so thought I should go !

And I want to stick as close as I can to my routine of 3 runs .

A short run , a 5k and a longer run .

As my last run was 10K I decided on a 5K today !

I went out around 10:30 before it got too warm although with an easterly breeze it wasen't too hot .

Shorts and t shirt were just right !

No Zombies or NRC today , just my music, today's playlist was David Bowie's 'The man who sold the world' 😁

No toxic 10 on this run as I started off at a comfortable pace .

Only saw one other runner heading towards me at about 2K in , we acknowledged each other as we past in opposite directions.

I was feeling good on this run so far, I have loosened up after my stint in the garden yesterday 😁

Round the corner on my usual route then up the hill towards the church ,

The breeze was against me going up the hill so probably slowed me down a little but it was also nice and cooling !

Past the church and onto a short downhill stretch then onto a short different road that I sometimes take and past the property shown in the picture.

I take this diversion sometimes just to vary the route towards the end of the run.

Then back onto my original route and another hill then the end of the run just as I come on to the flat .

5K done with a few minutes walking back to my house .

A glass of water , stretches done and rest with a mug of tea ! and some time in my garden with the Chickens πŸ”πŸ”

All in all , a happy run πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ˜

Gardening for the second time this year! Well done πŸ˜‰

Sounds like a lovely run, Ian. A comfortable run for you and still a sub 40 minute 5K πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ‘

And spending time with the chickens too! An added bonus. I used to have a few ex battery hens and they were so entertaining 😊

Haha, yes I don't recognise myself with all this gardening πŸ˜‚The run was enjoyable and comfortable enough, and I seem to have got over recent niggles now !

My hens are Rhode Island reds , I did have 3 but just 2 now, they lay nice big eggs of which I had 3 last night in a nice cheese and sweetcorn omelette πŸ˜‹

I love spending time outside gardening. Just not all day, every day. Haven’t had time to do much here, yet!

Rhode Island reds are lovely hens. Cheese and sweetcorn omelette! Never thought to put sweetcorn in an omelette!

Instructor57 profile image

To be honest , I had bought the sweetcorn for the hens , and just fancied an omelette last night and didn't have much to put in it 🀣🀣🀣

πŸ˜‚ so the hens missed out! You’ll have to get some maggots for them to make up for it!

Haha, I have just bought them some corn at the shop πŸ˜πŸ”πŸ”

Well done Ian! It looks glorious where you are. Glad you weren’t too stiff from the gardening work. I spent literally hours yesterday getting a stubborn plant out of a pot - the roots were like cement welded in, so I’m amazed I got anywhere today! Hope the chickens were pleased to see you back πŸ“, and I bet the tea tasted great.

Thanks , haha i had enough with weeds !Dandilion everywhere !

I used to keep bees and they loved the dandilion, but I don't have them now ,

And the chickens are always happy to see me especially if they get treats 🀣

Very well done and your run sounds lovely. I spent yesterday pottering about in my Garden too.

Yes it was an enjoyable run thanks !Unfortunately I leave the garden too long then wear myself out πŸ˜‚

Your run sounds lovely. I'm heading out to potter in the garden for the rest of the afternoon now and make the most of this glorious weather. 😊

Yes I enjoyed it thanks πŸ˜πŸ‘I'm keeping out of the sun for the rest of the day now !

Think I had too much yesterday 🌞😁

in reply to Instructor57

Oh yes - the sun can be a bit sneaky this time of year and catch folk out so easily (especially my red-headed son!).

It's surprising how strong it is ! I thought I was red faced from running but it was yesterday's sun 😁🌞

Well done on the gardening Ian! πŸ‘©β€πŸŒΎπŸ‘©β€πŸŒΎπŸ‘©β€πŸŒΎIt must be gardening weekend! I spent most of yesterday in the garden, pruning, deadheading daffodils, getting my herb pots ready for the summer etc.

A nice sub-40 5k run - it looks a glorious day in the photos but you are right about that easterly wind! But it's surely warmed up a bit by the time it reaches you! We get the full fresh effect here πŸ₯Ά

Thanks, it was an enjoyable to run ! πŸ‘The problem with gardening is it's never ending 😐🌷🌱🌳

Haha yes I bet you feel the easterly much more 😁

Sounds like a perfect Sunday run. Love the cottage. Don’t see much like that here in London, but I had a sunny run along the Thames towpath yesterday for an hour 😍

Sounds like a great run and almost the whole route to yourself - lovely. Glad you had good weather too - it's was really cold here yesterday and today - a cold, cold wind and no sun.

Hope it's better for my next run tomorrow.

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to Lifluf

Yes it was good , there was just over 1k that's on a busier part but the rest of the run was quiet , enjoy your run hope you don't have that cold wind 🀞

My runs are similar once I'm through the village the tracks are often completely free of people. I used to live in North Kent where it was all busy roads or packed parks so I appreciate the space every time I go out.

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to Lifluf

Yes, similar here !1k through the village then peace and quiet 😁

Nice one. Lovely pics, I like the look of that house! I woke up stiff this morning and it impacted most of the run which was annoying. Glad it didn’t affect your run. I won’t be doing that again!

Yes I liked the cottage , wouldn't mind living there 😁Yes I was lucky , it loosened me up from my stint in the garden 😁

I thought for a minute it was your house πŸ˜€ and thought lucky you! We have a few thatched cottages in the village near where we live and I get cottage envy! πŸ˜‚

Haha no, unfortunately I'm in a bog standard 3 bed semi in the village 😁

Nice relaxed 5k by the sound of it Ian, well done πŸ‘

Good of you to give the Zombies and Coach Bennett a day off, they’d have appreciated that, probably all went out for the day together given the nice weather πŸ˜‚ πŸš— πŸš™

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to Couchphoenix

Yes it was relaxed not to be chased by Zombies πŸ˜‚And my next run is a short one so maybe the NRC Fartkek run , or the 1 minute run depending how I feel πŸ˜‚

Couchphoenix profile image

You have to do the 1 Minute one Ian, it’s good fun, they did it for a laugh, it’s very tongue in cheek.....go on do it, see how far you can get in a minute, I sprinted when I did mine and was surprised the distance I covered.
