Had a nice lay in today, but the call of the run was there when I woke up. Explain that to a non runner, they look at you as if you’ve gone mad!
This might sound weird but does anyone else need to reassure themselves every few days that they can still run ? maybe it’s just me. The fragile ego of the runner. Also I needed my dose of endorphins.
Saw a nice shiny new 10k Race on the NRC App, and as I’ve got the Vitality 10,000 coming up in May (medal, medal, medal 🤗) I thought that’ll do for me 👍.
Headed off and felt good, haven’t done a longer run for a while so was careful not to set off too quickly CB kept reminding me to relax my face 🤪 shoulders and breathing with hands not clenched and that’s good advice as tension uses energy. Chose a different route today which is quite varied with a few hills here and there to mix things up. The run was a steady paced affair, the Saturday traffic was busy, where are they all going I thought to myself
🚗🚙🚗🚙 🤷♂️
I reached 8k and felt I’d paced myself just about right, but 9k and it’s getting a little tougher, CB started counting down the remaining metres which was a relief and I must admit at this point I was glad to see.....The Green Green Grass of home....sorry still not fully recovered from that Tom Jones Syndrome 😉 (see previous post).
Checked my phone and was pleasantly surprised with the final time ⏱😁.
Happy Running Everyone 🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️

Good run and time for you Couchphoenix, sub 75 minutes 10K is OK, I am also gradually, week by week, running 1K more each Wednesday to get back to 10K in preparation for that Vitality Virtual London 10,000 later in May, I have not ran a 10K since October last year.
Cheers Al, I’ve not run 10k for a while so needed to get one under my belt in preparation for the Vitality run, it felt ok, final 1k was bit tough, ok though. Good luck with your preparation 👍
Ooooh nice one Couchphoenix! I might try it out tomorrow, well spotted 😊. I know exactly what you mean, wondering if you can still run. I don’t think about running really apart from when I’m actually doing it, so am always amazed I can pull it off when I do, if that makes sense! Enjoy the rest of your day. 😀
Cheers Ian, hadn’t done one for a while, I honestly enjoyed it, always challenging but feels so good to complete one. Hope all is going well with you 👍🏃♂️
Poorly at mo so no exercise for me. But as soon as I’m better I will be back to it! I’m going to try Coach B when I run again as he sounds amusing from what you have said about him 😀 x
Sorry to hear you haven’t been well Sarah, hope you feel better soon. I think you’ll enjoy the NRC Runs, there’s a really good choice and CB is so encouraging, he really does help make the run more enjoyable x
Well done CP/coach!!! 😀 sounds a good comfortable run, i know what you mean about 🏃♂️🏃♀️ still, if you've not been out for a while! 🤣 and only other runners would understand! 🤷♂️Hope everythings ok with your mum's house, etc.
Anyway, what's all that having a lay in, letting everyone down there??? 🤣
Nice! I must try some more audio runs on NRC. I’ve been neglecting these in favour of zombies and also our own HU Spring 10k audio run on RunGo, which I’ve used now 3 times for my longer runs!
Well done, CP. I hear you about the fragile ego. If I haven’t run for a more than day or two, I feel panicked about getting out there, about my body forgetting how to do this.
Nice distance and pace. You’re inspiring me to get back to the NRC. I’ve been too much into my podcasts at the moment.
That’s Great 😃 glad I’ve inspired you, your a good distance runner, have you signed up for the Vitality 10,000, their medal is a cracker, I did it last year. Race at Your Pace is nice too, maybe take a look at that 👍
Aww well done my number one ⭐️⭐️⭐️Coach I am proud of you 🥰🥰🥰👏👏👏⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅 Great time as well ⏱⏱⏱⏱⏱⏱⏱⏱⏱

Phew glad to hear jobs safe 😅as for the support your more than welcome, we’re all behind you on here and loving to read about your second C25k journey, keep up the good work lovely 💪🏻🏃♀️x
Thanks Fionamags, from the response I’ve had, seems like we all get the same doubts and insecurities.....self doubt gremlins, that’s a new breed I was unaware of 😬
Why don’t you do the Virtual Vitality 10,000, you’ve recently reached 10k, it’s a cracking medal, I did it last year and I’ve signed up to do it this year too. 🏅
Race at Your Pace have lovely medals too, only £10 or £13 if you want your miles engraved on it. There’s no subscription or anything you just do one as and when you like, set yourself a monthly mileage target which you can increase or reduce.
