‘Chillin’ on ‘A Hot Run’ with Coach Bennett 😍😉

The beautiful hot weather continues up here in the Highlands and yesterday it was a case of 🎶 ‘Sunday morning up with the lark’ 🎶 (bonus points for remembering who sang that song 🤔😂, you’ll need to be a certain vintage 😬😂

Anyway it felt like a run day , I’m finding much to my delight that I’m forming a nice easy approach to my runs these days .

I’m getting fewer runs in just now but I’m finding there’s mornings when I just know it’s a day to run 👌🏃🏻‍♀️😃 ( rather than ‘I should’ or ‘I ought to’ .

There’s a few role models on here who’s attitude I love Jools2020 and SueAppleRun for example who sor5 of go with the flow & feel and I think I’m gradually getting the hang of that.

Today I thoughtI might do a quick 20 minutes as I got embroiled with the phone gremlin 😈 and also the earphones gremlin 👹 so was later out.

I had intended an earlier, cooler run but it was 8am as I got out the door.

I thought the NRC. ‘ A Hot Run’ would be apt and I have to say CB was on good form on this one with with plenty of sound advice and tips for running in the heat.

Unfortunately I found myself mentally ‘ticking off’ all the things I hadn’t done well in preparation for this run , (which was getting hotter 🥵😐)

My clothing was fine , I had sunglasses but no hat and no water ( which I don’t usually need but nearing the end of the run I could’ve done with 🥵)

I was paying attention to CB telling me that obviously in heat you need to ignore ‘the numbers’ and ‘Buzz Garmin’ 😂 your usual ‘cool run’ stats must be forgotten about .

So I ran ‘easy’ and it felt comfortable , but strangely I ran 5 K and turned in a Pb , running at a pace I’ve not done in awhile.

The middle 3K pace being slowest as I dealt with the music gremlin 🎶😈🎶 , I’m sorry I know ‘Maggie May’ is a cracking tune but it dawned on me I’d heard at least three times in the last 15 mins 🤔😂

So, don’t know why my pace was better and don’t really care , I had a lovely run on a beautiful day and it set me up for a great Sunday ☀️☀️🌊🐬

Highly recommend the ‘Hot Day run on NRC .....

Any recommendations for sunglasses ? And cool hats ( as in non 🥵 , cool is never going to my look 😂😂)

Thanks for the mention, but Sunday??? please don’t tell me it’s Sunday!!! tomorrow has to be Tuesday, it’s my day off. Can’t help with hats or sunglasses but do recommend NRC Lunch run, apparently it can be run before any meal so I chose that yesterday to run along the river knowing dinner would happen when we got home and there were a few surprises

Thank goodness 😂 I suddenly thought I’d have to get up for work in the morning. I’d wait until it’s a little cooler before you try lunch run.

I’ve worked my way through most of the 20 minute runs as well as some others, have you tried Zombies run? you can set your own time

😂🎶 no a bit of a throwback to childhood that one 🤦‍♀️

Finding it more difficult to get our regularly just now and have a had a few ‘meh’ 3Ks so this was a nice run with a surprising bonus 👍

Thanks for the mention and well done on the PB. Who knows why some runs are faster than others? I just say ‘thanks very much, I’ll take that!’ This was obviously one of those runs for you 🏃‍♀️👏😊

I’ve worn sun visors since I started running. In the rain, they keep the rain off my glasses. I can tilt them to keep the sun out of my eyes, I bought 6 from Amazon, so I have a choice of colours! In the heat they are cooler because they don’t cover your head. I don’t like wearing any kind of cap when I run., my head gets too hot.

For sunglasses I splashed out and bought a pair of sports glasses online from Optilabs. I love them! They are slightly curved for a better fit and they help to keep the wind out of my eyes. They darken in the sun. They are prescription glasses and varifocal. I wear them on walks as well and they are perfect for cycling, too.

Ill definitely check out the sun visor when I can get myself motivated to go to town and try on . I always seem to be minimises any browsing at the moment , a lockdown thing I think ?

I’m ‘between cataracts’ and at the moment there’s no prescription my optician can give me until it’s sorted 🤷🏼‍♀️ Or at least not worth it just now .
