I’ve been really fortunate in the last year to have had a healthy family, retained my job and work for a company who has been incredibly supportive. I really can’t grumble. I’m an introvert and really have enjoyed the pressure being off to do stuff. BUT, yep a but was coming....I found it so hard to motivate myself to do anything including running. I’m on my second run through (excuse the pun) of C25k in lockdown and generally been annoyed with myself. I’d got to an hour running before this crazy year. I liked running. I had a routine it was all going great. Anyway I digress.....I finally feel I might be seeing a twinkle of that happy runner back and it’s all thanks to my amazing 12 year old who was generally fed up being overweight and wanted to get fit so I suggested the program and nearly fell off my chair when he said yes! What a joy it’s been to have time with him. He’s a boy who hates sport, hates being outside, and generally had poor resilience. We have just come back from a wet and windy week 4 run 3 and we were just laughing at having done it....he even said I can’t believe we went out in that weather...never thought I’d be doing that a month ago. We had tears on the first run this week and he wanted to give up so the glee filled proud face at the end of this run was quite frankly awesome. Couldn’t have wished for a better Mother’s Day present. Hope everyone has had a good day and hugs for any of you that find this a tough one.

Finding my runner again
What a lovely post Sparkey5000 , I'm delighted for you and your son!
How wonderful Sparkey! What a lovely post and well done to both you and your son. I think you have got your spark back, or perhaps your sparkle 💫😊
What a brilliant post and so glad you can both encourage each other on , on your running journey 👏👏👏
Wow what a great post! How lovely and very inspiring. Good luck both of you! You can do this.
How lovely Sparkey! What a gift you have given your son and he is giving you. It was my youngest who gave me a reason to start C25k as I wanted to be able to run with him. Whilst he’s now deep into teenage hormones he still runs with us 3 years later and it’s helped keep us all fit (including his older brother) and made us closer during lockdown. It really is a wonderful thing to be able to do.
That’s brilliant Sparkey! Well done to you and you son 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
