An Update on my running Progress and a little info for the taller runners

I haven’t a posted for a while but wanted to report I am still out there pounding the mean streets of south London.

After my hamstring injury earlier this year, took me out of the game for more than a few weeks, it surprised me how quickly I lost my fitness, but the desire to run was still in me. Initially with still a grumbling hamstring I started running again. Now and it feels like forever later I have started to feel comfortable again running the distances I did before, but not quite at the speed as yet. My hamstring now only grumbles when I stop. At least I can now complete my three runs a week without having to pause on route. Still not quite at the distance I ran pre injury but progress is occurring even to my mind it’s still very slow progress.

This might be obvious for everyone, but was news to me. Being a taller running I always suffered from teeshirts that are too short in the body. Running left an unpleasant gap around the waist line, but only whilst running. In search of a solution I came across tall series of tee shirts. Specifically A*d*as, which led me on a trial of whom else sold these.

So my question is whom else sells tee shirts for the taller person? If you do know it would be great to share.

Also does anyone have knowledge or a rain jacket? My thin plastic blouson style jacket whilst great for keeping dry in a light shower was absolutely useless in the recent downpours. I can find biblically expensive jackets which purport to keep me dry, but I was hoping for a more economic solution. I was as wet inside as well as out, good job it was warm out. In the past I have jogged out wearing an alarmingly large poncho. Kept in dry but was murder in the windy conditions!

Happy running adventures I’m off to do some tourist running.

Good to see you're out there running, can't help with suggestions for tall people being quite short myself.

Hi, it's good to have another Uncle Steve around. We can never have enough if them! How tall are you? I'm about 6 foot but I've never had a problem with the length of tee shirts, any good charity shop usually provides for me! Concerning waterproof tops, I have a fluorescent yellow top made by pinnacle that is waterproof with wicker inside which I find works well.

Keep well and I hope you find solutions.

Thanks Steady_Steve for your kind thoughts. At a little over 6ft 1in I am no giant in todays world. At that height, normal teeshirts fit, but whilst running leave a rather drafty gap which isn’t visible when stationary. I only discovered T-shirts for the taller runners by accident so wanted to share my discovery. having said that there doesn’t seem to be much in stock at the moment. It’s on those longer runs when you are out for a couple of hours, well almost it would be nice to be ‘fully covered’😀.

Having been soaked through twice recently I just wondered what others wore when not racing but just getting the miles in.

Best wishes and thanks another Steve

I got a waterproof rain jacket from Decathlon. Fortunately it was a gift I’d searched around and it was the cheapest I could find. It’s fine - two side zip pockets too which is a boon 🙂

I only wear it for the wettest of wet days. I got it mainly for races where they stipulate “waterproof”.

Hi Misswobble, thank you so much for your reply. I’ll check out the jacket you mentioned. I’ve just had three days of being out in torrential rain, only two running, so was investigating possible solutions.

I’m not currently racing just building my mileage back up to a respectable distance.

Many thanks

Steve

Was it you who censored the brand name, or was it the forum software?

Hi nowster, I censored the brand name as I was unsure whether commercial names were banned. Didn’t want to get myself blocked.

I’ve already had several really kind replies which were informative and helpful.

Regards Steve

Try Vinted app for second hand- you can search for brands etc. and find great bargains. Or Sportspursuit online store for new but heavily discounted sports gear.
