Today was a 'long' run of 45 minutes in my plan to get to 60 minutes. The GPS of my watch locked quickly, put on my interval timer and started. At the beginning the run did not feel nice, maybe I went too fast, no idea. After a bit I changed to the Slow Jogging technique (don't seem to be able to start in it) and the run started to feel good. Still some slippery spots where I went a bit shuffling, but all in all the road was ok. After what was about 25 to 26 minutes I wanted to see how far I was as I had changed the road a bit and OH NO I have forgotten to turn on the activity on my watch! Turned it on then for the last 19 minutes, stupid me. Passed another runner 3 times as we both did the same road 2 times each in the other direction. Still had a bit energy left when I stopped, which pleases me greatly.
When I came home I put my route on a tracking website and NO! It must have been around 5 km!! I can't trace it by the centimeter, so have I run 4,90 km, 4,95 km, 5,00 km, what did I run? This might very well have been the first time I reached 5 km and I don't know, I might have missed a milestone! All cus I forgot to turn on my watch. To say it in the words of the Easter Island head in Night at the Museum: I am dumdum...
Ehm... I have a very bad memory. Honestly. I have flown in a helicopter over the Niagara waterfalls when I was 17 and I can't remember! Can only remember seeing pictures of it. So I seriously have memory problems π
I don't have the energy during the week to do longer runs than 30 minutes, so I have to wait till Saturday to try again. But I am definitely looking forward to it!
It's so frustrating when there is a human - technology interface malfunction like this. When it happens to me I try to use an 'oh well' statement such as - well my body will have gained from this even if I can't prove it with technology.
Yeah, just frustrated that I might have missed a milestone π. Plus I had put a goal of 65 km to run in February. Might miss out on it if I keep doing such stupid things π. But I definitely was very happy to have gone out and run. The weather was so nice with the sun out and the snow still by the sides and in the fields. Verrry nice!
But - looking on the bright side - you can do it again! Itβs something to look forward to and in the secret knowledge that you have it in you. ππ
Absolutely! And I am glad I did it too. Very nice weather, nice views, a good run. Would have been da best though if I had the milestone of 5 km π. Sorry, I stop nagging now π. Looking forward to hopefully reaching 5 km next Satursday!
