Jeffing faster than non stop running?!

How is this possible?! I’ve seen this with some of my shorter runs where the run-walk-run method relates to a faster overall pace than just running (or, more accurately, plodding along). It is so counterintuitive!

This was my run from yesterday. So glad I got out yesterday because there’s a mixture of snow and rain going on at the moment 😕.

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Happy Sunday! 😀That’s really interesting. I wouldn’t mind giving jeffing a go at some point.

Weird, eh? It’s been the same for me. I’ve read that because you use different muscles walking from running, if you use a mixture of the two it’s like you have two pairs of legs, and the pair that does the running only has to run ⅘ as far as in a non-jeffed run, or whatever depending on your ratio.

I find that in any run the first 200m are always at a faster pace unless I make a huge effort to hold back. Maybe Jeffing makes the most of a whole series of faster bits! Looks like you’re in the right spot for accurate timing😀

Indeed about the place for timing. I thought about your reply earlier in the week when I passed the jardin anglais but didn’t have my phone with me to take a photo. Hope your running is going well.

I think it’s because you get less tired ? I’ve been jeffing since November trying to get to longer distances injury free (from 10k to HM) and it worked till I got to 10 miles - but now finding it hard to get back into non-stop running after injuring myself ! Doh. Just off to attempt 8k now !

Hope your run went well. I too am finding it difficult to get back into non stop running but am feeling good on the Jeffing and can go longer with better recovery. What injury did you have? Hope you’re better!

I originally thought (when doing C25K) that I might Jeff, but didn’t. What combination of run/ walk do you use? 😄

Hi Elfe5! I did 90:30 run/walk and it worked well.
