I found that it went quite well. Not as fast as my Jeffing sessions last week (where my 5km time was faster than my "normal" 5km times generally. I might do one Jeffing run each week just as a little break.
I'd love to hear more about what you're planning to do.
Mine run was fine. I'd played around with jeffing four days in a row (!!) last week and felt great - not really tired both during and after the runs. That said, I didn't feel like I was pushing myself.
Today, I felt good too but I don't feel like I get the same "rush" as after a normal run. I have been doing 75 seconds running and 30 seconds walking.
Hello !! Curious about ‘Jeffing’ because I’m just starting a new Garmin training plan with the namesake Jeff Galloway and my first ‘run walk run’ session is coming up tomorrow and in terms of ratios it says to ‘use the best strategy for you’ which I don’t know yet !! (It’s just 2 miles at this stage but this part of the run is sandwiched between two 10minute ‘walk/jog-as-you-wish’ warm up/cool down sessions so I reckon the total run will be a bit under 4 miles). I looked up his site and there are some proposed ratios here based on pace, which would put me at 60 second run 30 seconds walk - but I haven’t tried this before so I don’t know. Are you supposed to sprint during those 60 seconds ? I guess not but at the same time I guess you’re not meant to deliberately go slow either ? Anyway, I’m just interested to hear how you decide the ratio and your ‘pace’ strategy !!
Hello! I used the ratios on the website and based it on my usual pace. Opted for 75 seconds run and 30 seconds walk.
I certainly haven’t been sprinting during the 75 seconds (I don’t think that’s the point but I could be wrong). Perhaps it could explain why I’m not really fatigued during or after.
I am thinking about getting a Garmin but can’t decide which model. What do you have? Why did you get that one? Would you chance model if you had to get another?
Good luck with your run. Do let me know how it goes!
I’ve been jeffing for only the last few weeks so I’m certainly no expert. I’m doing a 30/30 ratio. You can decide on your pace depending what run you want to do. Sometime I go really easy so I’m 100% aerobic or sometimes I pick up the pace slightly so it’s more of a tempo run. I’ve been low heart rate training so my goal is keep my heart rate as low as possible. My understanding is you shouldn’t need the walk breaks to recover. If so, you’re going too fast. Hope that’s helpful.
Thanks for that ! I’m a newby runner. C25K graduate in July & first 10k end October - but I got the Garmin in Late August as a birthday present. I went for the Vivoactive 4s because various people on this forum recommended it and it seemed to be ‘middle of the range’ and therefore good enough for me - not exactly a professional athlete !! It’s my first ever gadget of this kind so I can’t really compare it so don’t take my word for it !! I think one of my criteria was being able to download music - I have a lot of music on my computer that for some reason I can’t get on my phone. Not very techy !
