Dear Running Friends,

Yes you read that correctly!! I wanted to let you know after much deliberating and trying to get myself back running with long Covid symptoms, I have committed to doing C25K again and hoping in 9 weeks I will be back running 5k. πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈ

This afternoon I completed Week One, Run One!! I just couldn’t bring myself to restart my C25K app as I didn’t want to lose my history, means so much to me therefore, I am just replaying the runs from each week and taking a picture of the message on screen saying I have completed the run!

It felt wonderful to be back out there and safe having the support of the app. All went well and thankfully I did not experience any chest tightness, which I had been when trying to do it on my own, so this is me starting again 🐻🐾🐒 🐌 🐻🐾🐒 🐌 🐻🐾🐒 🐌 🐻🐾🐒 🐌 !!!

I must admit I did shed a tear after completing it 😒😒 Although I won’t be able to run the Vitality 10K in May as I had planned to do when I ran my last 10k on 30th December, hopefully I will be running 5k again, which will be sooooooooooo amazing πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈ.

Thank you so much for all your support.

Week one, run one completed!!

Happy Running πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈEveryone x

Thank you so much Ian, how is your marathon training going? 🐻🐾🐌🐒

in reply to 9weeks2Run

You'll have that 5k distance back pretty soon Rebecca, returning to the C25k plan is a clever tactic πŸ€“, and if it gets you through without experiencing chest tightness that's a huge bonus πŸ™‚.

You've done it before πŸ’ͺ, 2nd time around it's just the same πŸ‘, don't over pressurize yourself though!!!

That marathon hmmm.....well gently gently.

I've downloaded a marathon training plan πŸ‘

To be continued....

Thank you Ian, I pray it does.

I won’t I am going to take it so slowly and not push myself, I won’t go out on the days when fatigue is bad.

You will do it my running friend, gosh what an amazing achievement that will be

Well done Rebecca, I think given what you have gone through and still enduring then this is a really sensible choice πŸ‘

It will be the best way to re build your fitness and much better than jumping in mid way and possibly getting frustrated .

I'm sure in 9 weeks you will be running your 5k again .

Well done today and take care x πŸ™‚πŸ‘

Thank you so much Ian and for all your support. Yes I think this is the sensible thing to do as last time I was left feeling so frustrated and scared by the chest tightness.

If I can run 5k again in 9 weeks I will be so delighted.

Take care x

I don’t want to in the same way I didn’t want to enjoy PokΓ©mon, and that didn’t last long, but i enjoy the story and just can’t resist running faster when zombies are chasing me, first time that happened I ran flat out then couldn’t keep going to evade them

But i set it for 30 minutes and after that just keep going

9weeks2Run profile image

Go you - great decision! You've come through a horrendous illness so taking it slow and gentle is a great way to come back. You are in good company - there are a surprising number of comeback kids on the forum at the moment - including myself! I have no doubt this will help your respiratory rehab and let you reclaim the magic at the same time.

Brilliant news that you are running again after everything you have been through. Doing the program again will do then trick - you know it works - and sounds the sensible thing to do.

There will be plenty more 10k races waiting for you and I'm sure you will get your fitness back as you are so determined.

Just call me Coachphoenix 😁

Yes the Race at Your Pace are lovely medals. I’ve just received my February one πŸ‘

Have you used the Nike Run Club App? they’ve got lots of coached runs on there of various times and distances and if you need to stop, the workout automatically pauses. There are short runs on there which may help you rather than repeating C25k, it’s free too. x

9weeks2Run profile image
9weeks2RunGraduate10 in reply to Couchphoenix

Thank you Coachphoenix!!

Aw how lovely, massive well done πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ you are doing fantastic. I saw a picture of Teresa’s medal it is really nice.

Yes I have that app have not used it yet will have a look though. I really enjoy the structure of the C25K and because of the chest tightness I need to take it so slowly. I think because I know it works I feel safe following it again and I will stick to the structure, otherwise I tend to want to do to much to soon and I end up failing. Last time I got up to jogging 2 x 5 minutes jogs and the tightness was bad and it really scared me so hoping doing this slowly will work but I will check out the runs on the app.

Thank you for all your help CP x

Great to hear you are back on your running journey again 😊. I started the C25K again after covid but only did run 3 of each week. I improved quickly but was fortunate not to have any long covid symptoms. I am now back to 4K although much more slowly than before. I hope you find the same thing. Just take it easy

I will do, thank you.

I think you are a great role model to others that you are starting again from the beginning. Not an easy decision to make I’m sure but you show that you are looking after yourself and listening to what your body needs.
