๐ฅถ๐ฅถ๐ฅถ๐ฅถ I was forewarned by fellow runners reporting very cold runs!
๐ฉโ๐ปAnd after 5 day rest due to a heavy late-night-work week at work, but which also benefitted my knee niggles, I ran my first ever real interval 5k (apart from the stepping stone podcasts)
๐This is part of the preparation for the 10k Race at the Easter Festival of Running by Runderwear which have designed their own working plan : runderwear.co.uk/pages/fest...
โ๏ธ I am a week behind dijep but today I finally started. It was very cold and icy ๐ฅถ๐ฅถ๐ฅถ (see picture of icy stream I ran alongside) and as an ultra slow runner ๐ข I feel that my bandwidth of different speeds between jogging and sprinting is probably much smaller than anyone elseโs. So I assume what is my 3/10 and 7/10 is somebody elseโs 3/10 and 4/10.
๐งโโ๏ธ But it was fun, specifically as I programmed the intervals into my ZombieRun App, so I had Zombies chasing me as well!
๐ But I did run one of two fastest 5ks. So it must be working.
Well run CBDB itโs certainly cold out there today! ๐ฅถ I planned a route that would give me at least a bit of protection from the biting wind down towards the seafront. I did at least have the benefit of the wind behind me for the final 2K so my plan sort of worked!๐๐I finished my 5K in 31:16 so I was pleased with that๐
It was far too chilly to walk back from there, so I did a slow 2.2K jog so I wasnโt too tired but didnโt get too cold either. Itโs a fine line between those two!๐
Iโm doing LEJOG4 and Iโm just north of the Cairngorms National Park in the virtual world, so under 150 miles to go!๐โโ๏ธ
Iโm also doing the Runderwear Festival at Easter so Iโll see you on the virtual start line for that๐
Ohh nice, so as far as I know itโs you, dijep and me doing the runderwear festival. Have you seen their Instagram feed where they drop videos of Pilates for runners and other things?
Thanks CBDB, I havenโt seen that as Iโm not on Instagram, but I think they emailed me about anyway. Iโll see if I can find their email and have a look! ๐
Very well done CBDB, hope you had two buffs on! ๐ฅถ๐(Running from Lands End to John OโGroats AND along Hadrianโs Wall is just greedy!!๐๐)
Yeah, I know I was a bit greedy, but I have to admit that after seeing so many runners getting their bling, and the likely scenario that I wouldnโt be able to finish LEJOG in the allocated 1 year time and thus not getting a medal, I just needed to enter a race for that very first runner medal!
(I did get a first ever medal a few weeks ago as I indoor-rowed the English Channel, so yes, greedy ๐คฃ๐คฃ)
And I did actually have 2 buffs on ๐คฃ๐คฃ and a cap and a hoodie, 2 long-sleeved and 1 shortsleeved short, a vest and a partridge in a pear tree ๐ถ ....๐
It's certainly very cold out there today, I'm glad I went yesterday. Well done for getting out and on your speedy 5k ๐I decided to use my HR Zones as the "effort" that the plan suggested and programed them into the workout on my watch.
I really will have to try the Zombie run sometime ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐งโโ๏ธ
Yeah! Zombies are good fun. I donโt monitor my HR Zones, as I donโt have a Garmin. Just my smartphone. But I can tell from my breathing pretty much where I am, I think, and this is probably easier as I donโt have such big difference in speed between slow jogging and sprinting.
I'm going to have the seat on the IC well warmed by the time I'm able to run again ๐ฌ hip properly suffering from overdoing it on the hill training- what a way to learn ๐ฅ I'm going to need that patience- thank you for sending me some! ๐๐ I will continue to cheer you on through my rehab ๐ฃ๐๐ค
