A Cold 5k

🥶🥶🥶🥶 I was forewarned by fellow runners reporting very cold runs!

👩‍💻And after 5 day rest due to a heavy late-night-work week at work, but which also benefitted my knee niggles, I ran my first ever real interval 5k (apart from the stepping stone podcasts)

🏁This is part of the preparation for the 10k Race at the Easter Festival of Running by Runderwear which have designed their own working plan : runderwear.co.uk/pages/fest...

❄️ I am a week behind dijep but today I finally started. It was very cold and icy 🥶🥶🥶 (see picture of icy stream I ran alongside) and as an ultra slow runner 🐢 I feel that my bandwidth of different speeds between jogging and sprinting is probably much smaller than anyone else’s. So I assume what is my 3/10 and 7/10 is somebody else’s 3/10 and 4/10.

🧟‍♀️ But it was fun, specifically as I programmed the intervals into my ZombieRun App, so I had Zombies chasing me as well!

🚀 But I did run one of two fastest 5ks. So it must be working.

🏃🏽‍♀️On RunLEJOG I’m finally entering Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿!

🏃🏽‍♀️ On Hadrian’s Wall I’m half-way at Muckle Moss and love that name!

Happy running everyone!

Well run CBDB it’s certainly cold out there today! 🥶 I planned a route that would give me at least a bit of protection from the biting wind down towards the seafront. I did at least have the benefit of the wind behind me for the final 2K so my plan sort of worked!🙂👍I finished my 5K in 31:16 so I was pleased with that😊

It was far too chilly to walk back from there, so I did a slow 2.2K jog so I wasn’t too tired but didn’t get too cold either. It’s a fine line between those two!😀

I’m doing LEJOG4 and I’m just north of the Cairngorms National Park in the virtual world, so under 150 miles to go!🏃‍♂️

I’m also doing the Runderwear Festival at Easter so I’ll see you on the virtual start line for that😊

Ohh nice, so as far as I know it’s you, dijep and me doing the runderwear festival. Have you seen their Instagram feed where they drop videos of Pilates for runners and other things?

Thanks CBDB, I haven’t seen that as I’m not on Instagram, but I think they emailed me about anyway. I’ll see if I can find their email and have a look! 👍

Yeah, I don’t use Instagram either but have an account just for these purposes.

Very well done CBDB, hope you had two buffs on! 🥶😄(Running from Lands End to John O’Groats AND along Hadrian’s Wall is just greedy!!😂😂)

Yeah, I know I was a bit greedy, but I have to admit that after seeing so many runners getting their bling, and the likely scenario that I wouldn’t be able to finish LEJOG in the allocated 1 year time and thus not getting a medal, I just needed to enter a race for that very first runner medal!

(I did get a first ever medal a few weeks ago as I indoor-rowed the English Channel, so yes, greedy 🤣🤣)

Love it! 😂😂😂 Soon you will need a medal display bracket on your wall! 😁

And I did actually have 2 buffs on 🤣🤣 and a cap and a hoodie, 2 long-sleeved and 1 shortsleeved short, a vest and a partridge in a pear tree 🎶 ....😉

Yes, the ice 🧊 behaved today and stayed in its stream bed! 🤣🤣🙏

It's certainly very cold out there today, I'm glad I went yesterday. Well done for getting out and on your speedy 5k 👍I decided to use my HR Zones as the "effort" that the plan suggested and programed them into the workout on my watch.

I really will have to try the Zombie run sometime 😉🏃‍♀️🧟‍♂️

Yeah! Zombies are good fun. I don’t monitor my HR Zones, as I don’t have a Garmin. Just my smartphone. But I can tell from my breathing pretty much where I am, I think, and this is probably easier as I don’t have such big difference in speed between slow jogging and sprinting.

As far as I'm concerned your jogging is pretty fast then! Cheering you on from the injury couch in all your efforts 📣

Oh no you’re still on the IC? Wishing you a lot of patience. (Is it still the hip?)

And thank you! 🥰

I'm going to have the seat on the IC well warmed by the time I'm able to run again 😬 hip properly suffering from overdoing it on the hill training- what a way to learn 😥 I'm going to need that patience- thank you for sending me some! 😁👍 I will continue to cheer you on through my rehab 📣😁🤗
