Post run cold abdomen!

So home and resting after my 30 min run this morning and I was feeling very warm and was perspiring as you do. I rested my hand on my stomach and to my surprise/shock it was icy cold! I had to google this phenomenon and read this really interesting article. I was quite relieved that it’s totally normal. Just seemed very odd as I actually cooled down my hands on my own stomach 😂. First time I’ve actually been aware of it - others might find it interesting 😊.

I’ve noticed it mostly when I run in the winter, my tummy will be quite red and cool despite the rest of my body being warm (erm... my buttocks and front of my thighs can be cool too, but not as cold as my stomach) when I get changed after my run. I’ll be checking it out on my next run though since I’ve never noticed it in a warm weather run before.

You realize there are likely going to be a few runners seen running with their hand under their shirts on their tummy's next run... myself included 😂

It’s so weird. The rest of my body was really warm. Yes I think there will be 😂

I’ve noticed this too, mine is described exactly as mine gets quite cold yet clammy!

Our bodies are absolutely amazing aren’t they and it makes me feel good that I’m finally doing something to help my cardiovascular health.

I know! Totally amazing! I told my

son about it and he actually remembers from his Biology A level something similar to do with blushing and feeling butterflies in stomach - it also is to do with blood leaving the abdomen l! Clever stuff!

well i never...gonna have to check this out during tomorrows run :-)

I knew the blood diverted from digestion etc, did not know it had this effect on the skin! What amazing little things we are
