I posted about this morning run on the marathon forum so this is about yaktrax. Years ago I was aware elderly people in my walking group added coils to the soles of their shoes. Then, as winter snow and ice approached I questioned a young runner in the village how she managed to keep upright. She told me about yaktrax, other brands are available, this just happens to be the one my local outdoor shop had in stock and hand delivered. Phenomenal, clips onto base of running shoes, bites into the snow. Happy running everyone 🤗

Yaktrax and snow running
Thank you for pointing me here Grannyhugs - I will look into this as my 'everyday' shoes are incredibly poor for grip. I guess that's what you get for buying £20 shoes in Sainsbury's. Mind you, it's added comedic value when I've fallen over
Great shoes my crampons are the stud ones not the coils and they gripes well .nothing stopping you now 😊
Are you aware that you are wearing them when running? They look very simple (possibly the whole point of them). ✅
Great tip! Thanks 😊
coggerjogger I think you were considering these?
Yes, I had read Grannyhug's posting with interest. The only reason that I am still hesitating is my understanding that they are not so good on tarmac. On the lanes I run here, tractors pass and remove a lot of the snow with their tyres leaving a mix of snow and tarmac. (No snow here atm).
What are you doing GH, i'm using all this snow today/tonight, as a good reason to rest more!!! 🤷♂️
🤣 I just always have the urge to run, it's almost an ache. But I now have 2 days of building snowmen with my gorgeous grandson. Got photo from childminder of him out in the snow with the big boys today, hes only 11 months, he must be wondering what's happened to the nice green world
That’s a good idea. I may look into those.
This is great Grannyhugs. Glad they work so well for you😊👍
Thank you, perfect as I could guarantee to be on thick snow the whole time, wouldn't like to alternate between snow, slush and tarmac
We had some snow this morning, more like polystyrene balls . Then it seemed to stop for a while but tonight it's back and its getting deeper. ❄❄
Thank you for sharing. I'm glad i read your review as i was tempted but i run on streets. The snow here looks set to linger. I'm itching get back to finishing my lejog (30 miles left) and my 1000k target by July but it's icy pavements. Sigh. I'll just have to stick to walking for lejog and catch up with the running in a week or so.
I was warned never to wear them into a supermarket or you'll go flying, but great for ice and snow.
wow, thanks for that info, never heard of them! 🏃🏃♀️
Thank you, really useful info😁🏃♀️
