....come again another day! Living right on the east coast we are getting the full force of the Beast from the East!😡
The village is cut off due to snow drifts which means I can't even get to the gym to use the "dreadmill"!
I even tried doing a wk 1 style walk/run when walking the dog on the recreation ground -3 sides were fine but then I disappeared up to my knees in the snowdrift on the 4th
side!
I've got a virtual run to complete before the 7th and really wanted to keep "warmed up" for that. It's a minimum of 5k & was hoping to do 7 at least .
Just have to keep reminding myself that running will still be there when the snow thaws soon, whereas injuries could last longer! It's still frustrating though!!

Also being on the coast (Scottish in my case, perhaps yours too?), I reckon we should forget the skis and just grab two ends of a sheet - wind will have taken us 10K before we've finished a warm up walk...
Run Like a Time Lord? I have that to do by the 7th. Really hoping this snow clears a bit before then! My last run was Tuesday. Really wanted to go out today, but just couldn’t risk it. Yoga, planks and donkey kicks will have to do. Boyfriend suggest running up and down the stairs in our block of flats, but I fear the neighbours will think I have lost my marbles. (They already think that, what with me going out running in -4 at 6am, which is what I did on Tues). Aaaaaaaaagh.
Yes it's Run Like a Time Lord - really looking forward to it. I love running in the cold but this ice & snowdrifts is a bit much even for me!!!
Like you I'm making do with planks & stretches and any hiit video I can find on YouTube, but you don't get the same satisfaction as after a good run - or even a bad run!!!
Hey ho off to find some soft flat snow on the park grass for some 60 second bursts!!
I'm also hoping Monday or Tuesday. My first virtual race too - was looking forward to the bling!! I can't do park runs as I work every Friday night til 4am & would be too shattered to run at 9!
Good luck to us and Bestkitten who is doing it too! 😊
Good luck Bestcat and Bestkitten! (Great names! Mother and daughter?) I am so flipping over this weather now. It just took me 3 hours to get home (should have taken 35 mins). Trains out of central London mostly cancelled and I felt so panicked! Home now with cup of tea, and dreaming of my next run... do report back on your Virtual race, kitty cats! 😺😺
Even though it's stopped snowing for now the pavements are now compacted snow so unless you can run on ice (and I can't) there's no choice but to stay in the warm!
My birthday Park run has been cancelled tomorrow to so I can totally understand your frustration !
Happy Birthday Cornet-Carolyn! So frustrating that your park run is cancelled but hope you manage to get out on Sunday when (they forecast) it will be much warmer!
In fact I've just got home from night shift & the wind has gone & it's much warmer already! Totally different journey home to the one going in to work earlier this evening - now that was scarey!!!
The paths were still really icy this morning but we've had loads of heavy rain this evening so I expect all the snow will be gone tomorrow. I will definitely be running tomorrow evening! 🏃♀️
