Thought I had a hamstring injury (incurred 5 weeks ago, worsened 3 weeks ago, so no running since then). No such luck. Worn out meniscus is the likely culprit according to the physio (there's probably been a piece floating in there since 1981, causing my knee to lock when I kneel or squat) resulting in tibia rotating outwards when it shouldn't. Whole leg aches. All. The. Time. Back of knee very sore.
Ugh. But with a knee brace at least walking is OK. So I guess I'll try to keep at least some semblance of fitness while I wait to see a doctor, get an MRI etc. Physio said no running for now. And I had just decided to start working towards a half
Thanks for listening! The dog is happy - he will go on longer walks than usual!!

Thanks! What's really sad is that I have the appointment already to get the results of my shoulder MRI so we can figure out whether I get an injection or surgery for that! And now she'll have to send me for a knee scan. I have known I would need to deal with the knee eventually - it has given me trouble on and off - running has just brought that time forward. I was on borrowed time!
Weeks in a full leg cast in 1981 due to "water on the knee" from an accident. My guess is I tore the meniscus then...but maybe they didn't yet know much about such things. I was told I would have to put up with the knee "catching" when I kneel or squat.
Fingers crossed, things have really changed in all that time. I was told in the late 70s I’d have trouble walking by the time I was 40, now at 58 I’m running 120km a month and walking the same. If nothing else, your underlying fitness will speed recovery 🥰🤗
Oh no!!! So sorry that you are forced onto the injury couch! Sounds like tough times.
Just in case you didn’t know, over at our sister Strength & Flexibility forum , we do have some recommendations for those that need more targeted workouts. Here’s the link directly to the IC workouts, and there are some “arms-only” workouts: healthunlocked.com/strength...
Thanks! I'm in physio and have a very comprehensive at home exercise program for in between appointments. My husband complains that the living room is beginning to look like a therapy room! I'd like to avoid surgery if I can - so continued strengthening is the key.
So sorry to hear that WW; hope you get some good news soon! But as you say, at least the dog will be happy at having you with him on some longer walks!
