I always check the weather forecast avidly the night before a run and last night was no exception. For me here it was just going to be cloudy ☁️ first thing, I have noticed that the sunrise 🌄 is getting a little earlier and the temperature 8’ - getting warmer, so that’s the next dilemma what time am I aiming for to leave the house and is it 1pair of gloves 🧤 or 2? 1 top or 2? After making the mistake of 2pairs on Wednesday I went for the 1 this morning but now wish I’d chosen the lighter pair as I carried the thermal gloves 🧤 all the way around after the 1st K🤣🤣 I went with the 2 tops a tad warm but just opened the zips to let a bit of air in. So all in all I’m now creating a little dossier on what not and what too wear during these next couple of months based on the temperature 🤒 I did though leave the house around 7.45am which is great for the 10k Friday run which I enjoyed and was pleased with 7.16av pace nearly 3minutes improvement on the last 10k a week ago.
Oh heck I’ve just checked the weather forecast and it looks like snow and ice is on the way again tomorrow- so take care if you’re running over the weekend.
Happy running though🏃🏻♀️

Great run, well done. What to wear is so tricky. Thin layers, zips and expectation to carry things is my mantra. I've been caught out a couple of times getting chilled after stripping back atxstart of run and resisting putting back on as needed. Still in shorts though, that hasn't changed all winter, other than 1 day I went into summer shorts🤣 Take care and happy running 🤗
It's definitely a tricky business getting it right and if it's breezy then it can feel a lot colder than the actual temperature.I frequently take my gloves off and on, then eventually end up tucking them in my leggings waist band. I find buffs are great, I start with one on my head and usually end up with it round my wrist / hand instead of the glove 😂
It’s so hard isn’t it Over? I’m pretty much in leggings or capris with one or 2 thin long sleeved tops and a lightweight hi viz jacket. Usually a pair of light gloves too. Where I run it’s very exposed and windy, but I warm up quickly and I don’t like feeling hot.
It’s supposed to be hideous here tomorrow - and heavy rain/sleet/snow, just at the time I’ll be doing (not) PR! 😩
Well done on your fantastic 10k! That’s a forest improvement on last week! Maybe the winter weather suits you?! 😅
As much as I like winter weather, it really has made my magic plan progress quite bitty, as I stopped running through the icy days. So I really could do with a longer running spell.
Great discussion of clothing, which I assume must get more difficult the longer your runs are.
So well done running a great 10k despite clothing quandaries!
I am over wrapper. I don't mind being too warm. And always wear a coat as it has pockets.
Always watching the weather, more for ice than rain but do plan runs between rain on weekends. Hated running on ice always feel a slip away from knee damage.
