RED January Week 3

Well, RED January is doing much better than Dry January, although I think we’ve had the full range of weather this week from sunshine, wind, rain, snow and ice. We must be bonkers πŸ€ͺ Anyway, equipped with my lovely new Hoka Speedgoats, week 3 is done and a small increase in distance on week 2 - 3.8k on ice, 5k (not) parkrun, 10k easy Sunday morning leg stretch, 3.45k round the block, 6k Bests of the Year and inaugural outing for the new shoes in 10 degrees, 2k in the rain and wind and finally a very cold and windy 5k, making a total of 35.25k for the week. 10 days left to go! Good luck fellow REDers

Wow, I'm so impressed! What commitment. I've been faffing around since Christmas debating about starting JJMP distance. Finally started today! Go you, you're gonna smash January! πŸ˜ƒ

That’s because you’re bonkers too πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I certainly wouldn’t have gone on several days without it

Just calculated my running total since last Saturday and it’s 38.25, so similar to you. Go us! πŸ‘πŸ₯‚

What a fantastic week, well done with all those distances achieved through such a range of weather conditions. Happy running πŸ€—

Thank you 😊 Mind you, I think our weather is nothing compared to yours!

Ah, I'm further south than last winter and only 8m height. Lots of ice but no snow. Just had lunch on the decking in the sunshine, well wrapped up, for the 4th time this year so not complaining. Inverness has had loads of snow and it would have really hampered my winter running.

Wow! Hardier than me. Although we had sunshine here today, I couldn’t imagine sitting outside. Btw, just rebooked our NC500 trip for 10-24 May. Really hope we will be able to go this year 🀞🏻

I'm still running in shorts 3deg today, -2 with wind chill🀣🀣 good luck with your NC500 trip, I'm assuming we are going nowhere this year. We have such tight lockdown that even being able to visit extended family 9 miles away is something to look forward to at the moment, actually, seeing my daughter and baby hugs who are 500metres away would be a really good start.

It was booked more in hope than experience, but I felt so down during the week that I felt the need to have something to plan, even if it has to be cancelled. The campsite owners have sent me some lovely emails 😊

Greatest respect Sandie. Running everyday in the weather you’ve had shows your grit and determination. We have adapted dry January to weekdays only, or when we are doing our weekly Skype meeting so I’m sure you are doing better than us at that too.

Dry January fell apart fairly quickly, although still trying to stick to it Monday-Thursday (not always successfully 😩) Even with cold weather, I still end up sweaty πŸ₯΅

Well done Sandie1961, RED is motivating a lot of us (including me!) to get out there, even in rotten weather!β˜”οΈπŸ’¨πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Plenty of spring in the Speedgoats Sandie; hope they kept your feet dry. If I get this calf under control maybe I could go for a RED February....3 days shorter than January πŸ™‚. Improve fitness and shed a bit of weight....sounds like a plan. Fantastic effort from you and cheeky. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

They really are very bouncy πŸ˜ƒ Thinking of restarting Dry January and doing Dry February instead. As you say, 3 days shorter!
