Managed to escape

Woke up this morning planning to run but the weather had other ideas as there was a dusting of snow that was not looking like melting and the birdbath was ice. I'm not brave enough to run in ice and snow like some of my VRB's.

But by lunchtime there was a hint of sunshine peeping through the clouds and the roads looked reasonable so I couldn't resist. I stuck to the roads this time and did my 6k route through the next-door village and back out round the back. I only passed one person as I bumbled along. Not too much traffic although more than I expected as we're supposed to all be staying at home. But maybe they were all going somewhere important and at least they all gave me space - important on the narrow lanes round here. So lots of puddles but no slippery mud and all went well. I even managed to match my best times for a couple of segments. Can't do it when I try but when I'm not trying miracles happen πŸ˜‚

I'd almost given up on getting out when the sun finally showed its face.

Think you made a sensible decision about running on ice and snow Lifluf! Glad you got out later though and we’ll done on some speedy segments!

Thanks. It felt like a bonus run all round.

Well done on your bumble today ☺ sounds a nice comfortable run, same here, with the 🌞 coming out at miday, no snow, but very icy, first thing. No run for me, just a walk along canal, but sussing out a new poss run route 🀣 my non running daughter, says i'm obsessed with it! 🀣Are you running 10k's still, or maybe further? πŸ€”

I've only done two 10k runs but hope to do another later this month. I'm tempted to slowly (very slowly) increase my distance this year. Trying not to put pressure on myself but still plotting new routes just in case πŸ˜‰πŸ˜Š

Sounds like a good run Lifluf - despite your bumbling along! 😁 You did the right thing to wait it out a bit. The sun appeared here as well in time for my trot out during my lunch break. It was cold but lovely out.

Sounds a good run and wise decision to wait, although it's frustrating waiting for the weather to warm a bit and melt the white stuff.

Yes I wasn't sure I was going to get out until the weekend- glad I went for it though.

I'm off to do another useful run tomorrow this time to the vets to pick up some medication. Luckily it has to be after 2pm so 🀞the frost has gone

Hope its not too far dijep - it'll get icy once the light starts to fade. Good idea to combine run with a task - and saves using petrol 😊

Directly there and back is about 5.5k, I'll see how I feel, I may end up walking off needed 😊
