I am 6 runs (3 weeks) into my comeback πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ₯³ I didn't want to say anything too soon in case it was (another) false start πŸ™„

I'm following a James Dunne recovery plan, 12 weeks to 35 minutes of running, although that's if you run 3 times a week and at the moment I'm only running twice... although no achilles flare ups (😁) so I might consider 3 times a week soon 🀞

I have a bit of imposter syndrome posting on this forum.. when I'm running for a total of 12 minutes.. 😳

What I have found so far in my 3 weeks... you really don't get warm running 1 minute or 90 second intervals πŸ₯Ά!!! Hopefully that will get better as the running increases and the walking breaks reduce.

I am also approx 325 miles up the road to JOG, roughly in the Stoke area so in the next week or so I'll be able to wave to myself.

Happy and healthy running everyone 😊

Nice to hear from you again Mum22 boys, great to be back to the runs, walks and Lejog, just take the runs slow and steady, you have plenty of time to complete Lejog, it's a year, there are several runners who want to complete Lejog in 6 months or less, good luck to them but a year to complete Lejog is very good as well.

Thanks jorgeRuns, and thanks for saying that... although can't help feeling it with only 1 10k and then back to the beginning πŸ™ˆ fingers crossed it's onwards and upwards though!

Lovely to hear you are back out running, chilly indeed when you are stop starting. I’m doing a lot of walking and cycling along with my running just now. Running- shorts and T-shirt, gloves sometimes. Walk/cycle - multiple layers and rucksack for extra layers. Happy running πŸ€—

Thanks grumpyoldgirl 😊 I'll be keeping up with the strengthening work for along time!! Fed up of the IC!!

So lovely to read a post from you again. No imposter syndromes on here - so many of us have come back from injury, needed to do recovery runs or just have to take things down a step or two sometimes, for whatever reason - it's all part of the journey. Everything sounds to be going positively for you. Keep posting to let us know how you are doing. πŸ€—

Thanks Delly-dot πŸ€— I think it'll be quite a while until I'm running 5k again never mind 10... but 9 weeks on the IC definitely teaches you patience!

I will do, thank you for your lovely response 😊

Oh so pleased you are on the rehab road now Mum22boys. πŸ€—I'm so enjoying my return as well. Just two runs a week for me too, my next run will be Wk 7 R2 and I'm finding it fine.

Its so important to do the groundwork and build back slowly to gain strength and tolerance through the legs and feet.

Fingers crossed with your continuing comeback, slow and steady is the way and do keep posting too!πŸ€žπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ‘Œxxx

RunWillieGraduate10 in reply to Mum22boys

Thanks for asking 😊Still doing my run/walk keeping the heart rate low. We’re moving interstate next month so not sure how much running December will bring. Looking forward to exploring new running routes once we’re settled.

Are you noticing improvements? Best of luck with the move, hope all goes smoothly and enjoy exploring when you get settled 😊

I’m having a break from MAF. Still doing Run/Walk jeffing 30:30 to keep heart rate low but sometime not as low as my MAF number. I’ve certainly not got faster but I did do just over 100k last month without injuring myself so for me that’s an improvement. So happy you’re off the IC. You’ve been so patient β€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

I’ve made it to Bonnie Scotland...from Beautiful Portugal. I was totally chuffed to see Lockerbie in my rear mirror. It felt like coming home. It also felt a long time coming.

Only yesterday did I notice that if you complete LEJOG in three months you’ll get a gold medal. Despite it being so easy to run and walk here with the Algarve’s really gentle weather, there’s no way I’m going for gold πŸ˜€

I seem to have settled into a bit of a slower pace here. Both life style and running. It is very hilly here so I’m putting it down to that - not the fact that I’ll be 67 in a few days. 67! Lordy knows how that crept up on me. I was 17 a heart beat agoπŸ˜‰

Glad to hear you are on the comeback Mum22boys . I’ve found being retired does have benefits. I can run whenever I like to get quieter routes and better weather. Enjoy it while you can!

I got to the end of C25K, got a week of consolidation runs done then had to self isolate. My first attempt to run after that was a disaster with a niggling injury flaring. After advice from the physio and lots of strengthening exercises I went out in the frost this morning for a week one of C25K run. Agree about the cold and also realised I won’t be progressing as quickly as I hoped but at least I was out and able to jog for a minute at a time...
