August has arrived! Thatβs a good time to start running (again π³π)!
So...GTFC asked me yesterday how my running was going?!! Quite innocently I might add π. He probably thought I was out there smashing some 10kβs π ! (π€¨....hey....I can think that if I want....a girl can dream π)
I was truthful (as always), whilst I have been doing exercises every morning for a few months, running has only been sort of 2/3 times per month. But..., I think Iβm a lot stronger and ready for it now. I certainly feel fitter and have a better mindset from creating that routine! So, itβs the right time to alternate the workouts and get back out there with my βnew normβ. I have the routine that will take me outside, early in the morning...no fuss....no gremlin debates π§ββοΈπ¨....just run ππ½ββοΈ .
I started with an 8 minute warm up walk today. Then ran heading back to finish the 2k in the little park nearby. I had UnfitNoMoreβs 2p analogy for running using the glutes popping in, but I donβt quite think I mastered that one! π₯΄π€£
ππ½ππ½ππ½...Iβve got my first tick for August!! Oh and probably one of the most important rules is that it doesnβt matter how long it is....5 minutes will do. This is a different type of endurance and Iβve mastered the gremlins. You canβt grumble or give up on 5 minutes can you? ππ!! That βjust 5 minutes will doβ always gets bombed π₯ in the best possible way π!
Here I come August !! Day 1 complete!! β
Happy running Runners! β€οΈ

Oh yes Blue!! And maybe one day, Iβll be able to run 2k in 5 minutes anyway!! π€₯π€£!
Have a great weekend Blue!! ππΌββοΈππ½ββοΈβοΈβ€οΈ
Woo-hoooooo!!
All aboard Fabulous 450's train π₯
This sounds great and you've made a start which is the best bit. Distance, time and pace matter not. As I like to say. 'It doesn't matter how your run went, as long as it went!'
Awesome that you are back out there and this alongside your exercises will be so good for you. Relax, breathe and goooooooooooo π
ππ½ππ½ππ½!! GTFC thanks for the inspiration to get out there!! I might have continued being quite satisfied with the workouts, but your question made me think, π€....well why not? π€
UnfitNoMoreβs invitation to a 12 mile run, was encouragement too! He always has a way of making the impossible seem possible. Well... Iβm captured and entertained by the thought anyway!! π₯΄π. It still sews a seed! π
Iβll certainly loan your quote to keep going!! β€οΈ
Hey, no worries. When I used to teach I would tell the children to make loads of mistakes so they wouldn't be frightened and be free. When I coached my son's football team I told them to 'get out there and do something' this enabled them to express themselves, play without fear and play with freedom. So with running I allow myself to make mistakes and do something, namely run. This way any anxieties or fears vanish! You run for you as I do for me, we deserve it, we have earned it and we'll jolly well do it. Gosh how lucky are we in being able to run (health wise, fitness etc.) So many people can't through no fault of their own so while we can we must πππππ
Well done Fab! That July calendar looks hear and Iβm sure youβll smash August. Can I suggest you use different colour pens for runs and workouts as an even clearer visual confirmation of your progress. I just love your positive posts - of course 5 minutes is fine but how many of us actually use that?! (Not)parkrun isnβt helping me as I want to post a time so go out for 5k the first run of the week β then always feel βI might be better this timeβ so repeat it twice more just in case!! I need to chill and be a bit more Fab! Good luck for August (as if you need it)
Hey Sybilw!! Thanks so much. Absolutely, I will certainly do that!! I have another colour ready now!! π€π€
The 5 minute rule is really just a neat mind trick! It gets me moving because it doesnβt feel like a big deal and then π§π½ββοΈ....the real me shows up!! πππ!!
Youβre always amazing Sybilw!! π€ Nothing wrong with doing a few more 5kβs!! Thatβs a very neat mind trick too! πWeβre out there! ππ½β€οΈ
Love this "Can do" mindset Fabulous! ππ There is nothing like physically ticking off a run sometimes and I love the motivational quotes on your calendar too! Keep it up and good luck!
Thanks so much Sandraj39!! π€!! Being in this forum has been the smartest move Iβve made, alongside starting running, of course. Iβm certainly not perfect and thatβs a big part of my enjoyment in running. I donβt have to be perfect...I can even be rubbishπ€£....but itβs still a run and I can do it too!!ππ½ β€οΈ
Fab idea, Fab!! You can definitely do this and it will set you up for more regular runs in the autumn. I'm on week 3 of HIIT every morning thanks to your inspiration & the 'sourdough bread baby' (my lockdown pounds) is beginning to flatten π! Run girl run!
Go Fab! Youβll make it through, you know you will, and what a great start to the month! Iβm like you though - I tried to imagine a 2p piece and nah, it wouldnβt have stayed put! π π
Thanks so much Cheeky!! π€ Hey...no harm in having at least one win, every single day!! And getting that win at the start of the day π...well...no matter how the rest goes, it canβt be taken away!! π
The 2p achievement may need to be a later mission!! ππβ€οΈ
Woo hoo! Loving being back in the zone with you Fabz ππ€π¦ I will be thinking of us running on the same days, and that thought will be motivating, just as your posts always are β€οΈππ¦
Aah thanks Flar!! π¦ Iβll have 2 or 3 runs per week on this plan. As I started today, I already have a rest day tomorrow too π. We will have lots of fun Flar!! πβ€οΈ
I love your positive posts and mindset! I have a new mantra this year "Progress, not perfection ". It really helps me because I don't worry anymore about not already being where I want to be health wise but recognising each thing I do is helping on the way no matter how small.
Wooh hoo NetCadet!! ππ½ Thatβs exactly right. All better has to be is better for you and thatβs enough to keep us smiling and going out for more!! π
Thanks very much for the encouragement too! π€β€οΈ
Sounds like you have it all worked out Fabulous450 ...and you sound so excited about it too...whatβs not to love? Youβre doing whatβs working for you and thatβs what runningβs all about isnβt it...and finishing a run on a high is the best xx Iβm pulling on my running gear later, your enthusiasm has got me xx
Thanks so much Mummycav!! π€ I am excited about it π! Iβm excited that Iβve built up that βgo, no matter whatβ mindset and Iβm going to be unleashing it!!
Brilliant! I'm hoping this will be the month I get back out there too. A new neighbour has done C25k and will hopefully drag me out with her when she goes running...
