Woke up at 6am and gazed out of the bedroom window at what appeared to be a nice fresh morning. I had planned on a gentle Friday run but the weather app on my phone said 70% chance of rain, didn’t fancy that so as I was awake I thought I’d get out there.
After Monday’s mammoth effort, I needed to be kind to the old legs, so I had a look through the NRC, my running menu as I like to call it and found ‘Just Go With Mo’ a 30 minute run, which sounded just right.
Warm up walk over off I set off and felt good, Mo’s advice to start slowly, I’ve a feeling his idea of slowly and mine are two completely different things but I took his advice and can honestly say I feel a lot more relaxed running these days, which has taken me a long time. The run itself was nice and gentle and I really enjoyed listening to Mo as I jogged along telling the story of how he first came to the UK and discovered chocolate for the first time, his racing career and eventually reuniting with his twin brother after many years.
The 30 minute run eventually came to an end and I resumed the workout to continue on to 6k, which felt the perfect distance for me today.
I would definitely recommend that one if your looking for a nice gentle run.
Good Luck if your heading out there soon. This running malarkey is definitely a very important part of my life now and I’m so glad I discovered it 👍🏃♂️

Thank you HeavyFoot, I didn’t think my stride was that long, but I suppose it must be, looking at the stats. I’m no expert on these things as you can probably tell.
Your welcome swim63, it was interesting, I like the NRC app as it always seems to have a run that suits the way your feeling and I fancied something not too strenuous after my last one.
Thank You 😊 Glad to hear you’ve downloaded the NRC app, you’ll see what I mean re the Running Menu, there’s loads to choose from on there and listening to one of the coached runs or one like I used today, I definitely find makes the run more enjoyable.
Nice to hear you’re also feeling more relaxed with your running and doing so well with the 10k plan.
I had a quick look at it the other day it does look really good. At the moment I am enjoying listening to my music but will give it a go, the Mo one sounds interesting.
Thank you 😊 I feel the 10k plan has given me more confidence can’t believe next week will be attempting 8k!!
You’ll reach 8k no problem next week Rebecca, You can still listen to your own music with the NRC runs, they work just like C25k. You start your music before you start the NRC run.
You also get the opportunity to continue the run if you want to go further when it ends, i.e you could choose a 6k run, then continue this when it ends and it continues to notify you of extra time and distance you’ve run at regular intervals.
You’re welcome. Paula’s a good one too, I did that one the other week, I put a previous post on about that one, they’re an enjoyable distraction when you’re running 👍🏃♂️
Thanks Jane 😊it didn’t feel quick, an enjoyable run though and hearing Mo’s story made it all the more enjoyable.
Love this. I think it resonates with me when you said, 'I feel a lot more relaxed running these days, which has taken me a long time.'
When we feel this, it's a sign that all those runs have helped shape us and I like to call this my 'sit in' pace. It's been a good week for you with a milestone run and then this one 👏👏👏
Thanks GTFC it’s taken a lot of runs to get to this stage and in the early days I thought am I cut out for this, 🤔 but now I can honestly say I enjoy it 😁
Thanks for this. Didn’t release NRC had so many options. I’ve found their huge list now, but am going out with Mo this morning on your recommendation ( juju week 4, here I come) 🏃♀️😊
You’re welcome Beatthestreet 😊 Yes you’re spoilt for choice, and you can normally find a run that suits the way you feel and the time and distance you fancy doing. Hope you enjoy a run with Mo, the run with Paula is good too 👍
Hang on - are you me? I did that one recently as well, feeling pretty much as you did when I started it, and I really enjoyed it (and kept on till 6k). It's nice to have some company on runs occasionally, and Sir Mo was good company 😀.
A nice 6k and a cracking pace too. Must be that long stride length of yours! 😁I'll definitely give that one a try at some point.
I'm starting to get a hankering for a longer run - which I must say hasn't even entered my head since the Vitality 10,000. Let's see what transpires over the weekend...
I’d been thinking about seeing how far I could run for ages, I think it’s good to test yourself from time to time so you can tell how much you’ve improved. Maybe you could do a 13k next.
Thank you 😊 that was a tough one, but what a feeling when I eventually had that pub in my sights, I stopped briefly outside it and couldn’t believe I’d actually made it, all that way, I still can’t. I’d done a 13k prior to that, but only once.
Sounds like a great run! I love NRC , there's so many runs, sometimes it takes me ages to decide which one to do. I've done the run with No, it's really interesting isn't it and so inspiring.🏃♀️😁
Yes I thought so, I definitely think the NRC app is a good follow on when you’ve graduated C25k, because you get used to running with a coach. It’s definitely helped me increase my distance and maintain my enthusiasm to a point where running is now just part of my life now and I miss it if I don’t get out there. 👍🏃♂️
