An early morning sunrise 4k

I woke up at 05:30 this morning and just had to run !

Yesterday was too foggy here and the day before was too wet and miserable, so today was the day !

Out of bed 05:45, glass of water and kettle on !

Popped my head out of the door whist waiting for the kettle and decided yes, thin shorts and thin running vest would be fine !

Tea made , drank , little room visited and kit on !

The usual pre run faff and out of the door at 06:40

My last 2 runs had both been 3k after a couple of running breaks , so on this one I decided on the NRC 4K run .

My only objectives were to stay comfortable, enjoy it, and again run negative splits , I managed all 3 !

The first K was a nice plodding 7:52

It naturally wanted to be faster but I resisted the temptation.

On to the 2nd K which has a slight long decline and let the pace creep up a bit , I was already starting to warm up and the run was feeling good , this came out at 7:35

Around the corner and onto the uphill section towards the church , this is where my pace can drop off if I'm not carefull but I managed to still pick it up and this Km came out at a nice 7:28

A few dog walkers out this morning and we all exchanged greetings as we passed each other but I didn't see any other runners πŸ€”

On to the 4th and last K which is where the sunrise picture was taken

This is undulating and a tricky one to maintain a consistent pace but happy that it came out at 7:06

Walk back home , another glass of water and kettle on again ,

Stretches done , Misty the cat fed , breakfast and shower later !

That was a nice steady and enjoyable run!

Happy running ! 😁

Thanks Julia ! Yes, perfect conditions for me !

I'm trying to do more strengthening excercises recently as I think it all stems from a weak core !

Are you doing β€˜strength and flex’?

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to Jools2020

No , mainly elbow and side planks , and there's a James Dunne 12 minutes program I might start doing in addition πŸ™‚

That's something I haven't yet done: a dawn run. I've done plenty of runs at sunset, but it's not the same.

Well done! And negative splits. πŸŒ„

Many thanks πŸ‘Yes, it's definitely my favourite time to run , but as we know , the negative splits get harder beyond 5k 😁

Here's the full pic of the sunrise

Sunrise

I only ever did a morning (dawn) run 1 time and that was 5 or 6 years ago. It felt fabulous, but I just can't get my ass out of my bed early enough for it now. In the week I have to get up at 5:45 for work, so even earlier to fit in a run is a big no no for me. And in the weekend I am so happy to be able to sleep in, that I refuse to get up before 7:30 - 8:00 at which time I definitely need breakfast...

Misty has grown (ref. the picture of the horse)

Yes, I remember you said you get up early for work !And I certainly understand you wanting to lie in at weekend πŸ˜πŸ‘

Haha, yes if Misty grew that much she would struggle to get in the cat flap 🀣

Super run. I did a wee 3 K this morning too, I'd forgotten what a nice distance it is. You can push it a little it if you like without getting worn out.

Mine was a bit later than yours, I'm a very slow starter in the morning, but it was gorgeous just the same.

Yes, I like 3k and 4 , and they are great for getting me back into it .I do notice that Mr Garmin prefers 3 over 4 😐

I've dumped my Garmin Coach plan, so this was one of the first without that tyrant on my back, and I loved it.

Ah well done Ian! Sorry for the late reply, my app keeps misbehaving and I have to delete it and reinstall. Anyway, if you just had to run, then it sounds as though all’s right with the world 😊. Brilliant 🀩.

Thanks ! πŸ˜πŸ‘Unfortunately the duvet Gremlins got me this morning 😐😴

Frenc profile image

Ha ha yes, they occupy a section of my duvet as well on occasion! Little so and so’s. Can’t beat a well-earned lie-in though 😊.
