I couldn’t get to sleep last night so I was lying in bed looking at my phone and came across The Sandringham January Virtual Race. At 01:42am I completed my entry and put a little post on in case anyone else fancied some January running bling.
This morning at 8:00 I laced up my nice new Brooks Ghost 12’s and headed out into the crisp morning air, there was frost on the cars, and the pavements felt a bit slippery under foot, but I love running in the cold as you feel so much more awake.
I chose my usual route and set off at what felt like a reasonable pace and in my mind as I was running along I was thinking to myself if I can keep this up I might even get a PB 🤔.
I saw one or two other runners who gave a friendly wave, and a smallish chap who I’ve often seen running who was wearing a striped shirt and reminded me of Where’s Wally, he has a distinctive running style in that his arms hang loosely by his sides as he runs....and run he does! he was soon a dot in the distance.
I reached the park where the paths were particularly slippery, I did my customary lap and headed out through the gates homeward bound, the last 2k felt quite tough but I kept up the pace until I eventually heard ‘distance 10 kilometres’. I checked my time and discovered I’d achieved a new 10k PB 😁 I only shaved 34 seconds off the previous one, but I’ll take that.
I’ve submitted my time to the event organisers and was pleased to see a few minutes later on their results page that I was 20th, a bit later I was 21st and I’ve no doubt my placing will drop a lot more by the end of January 😂.
I wonder if the leader was Where’s Wally 🤔 he’s certainly quick enough and I’d give anything to be able to run as quick as he does.
Happy Running Everyone 🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️
Well done for going out, I'm my legs are tired from my run on thurs so couldn't go today. 😩 Keep up the good work 👍🏃♂️
Ahhh Thank You 😊 take it easy and rest those legs, you’re still getting used to the longer runs, 28 minutes is a long time to run continuously and takes its tole until you get used to it. 👍🏃♀️
