An Early Morning 3K Recovery Run

So following on from my last run of 13K, today was always going to be a short recovery run .

I woke up around 04:30 and decided to lay there a little longer contemplating the day ahead .

Up at 5 for a glass of water and to make a mug of tea!

My kit was already out !

Tea made and a quick look on the forum !

Even replied to a post at 05:00 🀣

So tea drank, Misty the Cat fed and Dynamic warm ups done I was out of the door by 05:40

It was a beautiful morning , 11 or 12 degrees and a lovely cool breeze and a fantastic morning sky !

What's not to like about an early run !

This was a completely 'Naked' run (in the tech sence of course)

No music , no apps and no watch watching !

I know the route so well I know exactly where each Km finishes .

Ok set off and instantly knew my pace was higher than Sundays run , but that's fine , this was going to be a short run so I could afford the extra pace .

1 k in and enjoying the run , comfortable pace , breathing under control and no problems from the previous run .

2nd Km a slight downhill , don't mind if the pace picks up a little but still keeping the breathing under control .

3rd and final Km is an uphill stretch, so trying to keep a steady pace , even now as I write this I don't know what the splits were as I still have not looked , I will see in a minute and add a pic 😁

So, an easy recovery run ! Following my 3 run routine , maybe the next will be a 5k .

Back home , another glass of water and stretches done , and showered before writing this !

So porridge next , and another mug of tea and it's still only 07:15 !

Happy Running ! 😁

Well done-I can feel your energy from here!So impressed by your early morning run! I was going to do likewise but the duvet Gremlins got me and now it's time to get ready for work. Looks like a hot evening run for me instead.

Haha, the Duvet Gremlins can be relentless !Before this heatwave I had struggled to get up for an early run , and I don't get on with after work runs 😐

So my run frequency had suffered .

So beating the Gremlins into submission allows me to up my frequency again 😁

Haha 🀣We run when we can πŸ˜πŸ‘

Trust me, I have had many mornings hitting the snooze button but in this heatwave I've struggled to sleep so usually awake quite early 😁

Are you sure you’re the real Ian? That’s an impressive early morning start! Great recovery run and negative splits when you weren’t even looking!

I’m sure that has set you up for the day. Great photos, too.

Well done πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

Haha, well I did do some early morning runs during C25k 😁But then I admit I got out of the habit .

But during this hot weather I find it difficult to sleep , and to be honest it's the only way I can pick my run frequency up as I don't like to run after work 😁

Well done getting out so early for your recovery run, having spent until late into the night rearranging furniture I was totally out for the count at that time. It’s lovely to run tech free especially when it’s a well known route - freedom for happy running πŸ€—

Oh, hope you now have the furniture where you want it 😁And yes, it was soooo nice at that time πŸ‘

Well done! I love an early run while it is all fresh before the heat! Amazing photo of a mackerel sky....not long wet not long dry apparently as the saying goes but I take it to mean a change afoot! Hope your energised feeling powers you through the day!

What a great run, and I love the sky in the photo. Not surprised you ran naked, it is warm πŸ˜†. Well done for getting out so early - I can only dream of such an early start, but I totally understand not sleeping so well at the moment. But life is good πŸ‘. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Sounds like a perfect morning! Sorry for aski g Γ  silly question but what are recovery runs? Do you run them the day after a big run? I'm a newbie and a lot to learn πŸ™‚

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to Veevee22

Not silly at all .That's what the forum is here for !

A recovery run is simply a form of active recovery, usually a shorter or easier paced run following one of higher intensity or distance .

They are a good way of maintaining your fitness without overtraining

Great thanks. But I should still rest for 24hrs before that run?

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to Veevee22

There is no need for a recovery run if you are on C25K, and yes , you shouldn't be running on consecutive days untill at least 12 months of running
