Hi all, i am looking for some recommendations for training session apps ? What do you enjoy using, recommendations please...

I ask as we're only allowed to train x1 per week with our local run club now, instead of x2. ..So looking for an alternative to get my weeks ahead completed.

Hi! I'm a great fan of the guided runs on NRC (Nike Run Club), there are so many for different durations / lenght etc

I like to try a different one each time depending on how far I am running or my mood. So they have some for rain, sun, morning, evening, low mood etc. There was a great fartlek one called How fartlek are you / can you get. This app as others (garmin / strava etc) can create training plans for you so you could do that and then choose a guided run to go with.

Yep NIke Run Club. I’ve just started to do some of the guided runs and am enjoying them. There are loads to choose from.

I’ve only done 20 min and 30 min recovery runs as I’ve been building back up after an injury. For speed I enjoy the C25K+ Speed podcast which is 20 mins of intervals. The Stamina podcast is great too which is a 35 min run. They both require you to run at 165 spm for some time so some find the pace a bit fast but you can adapt them to suit your pace or gradually build up to being able to complete them fully.

They are both podcasts so can be downloaded from iTunes of wherever you can access podcasts on your phone. There is a stepping stones podcast too designed to be used for consolidation runs to increase pace. Be warned the music is a bit inane 😏. I used them a lot during consolidation and enjoyed them. Now I’ve moved on to NRC for a change.

Yep NRC Nike Run Club App, great selection of coached runs and you can listen to your own playlist just like on C25k 👍🏃‍♂️

I’m loving the ‘Zombies Run’ app at the moment, you can choose your distance or duration and listen to your own music in between the story. If you allow ‘chases’ you also get the benefit of faster intervals as the Zombies try to catch you!. It’s great.

Also agree that Nike Run Club is good

What do you use from NRC ?

Another NRC groupie here. I just love Coach Bennett’s voice. I’ve done 1 fast, 2 slow and the 2 hill workouts a few times. Tough but good. Also “slow down to speed up” the and the Mo Farah speed run.

Do coaches talk you through these?

sofaspud in reply toLucyintheskywith

Yes, absolutely. There’s a 5 or 7 minute warm up, then you manually pause to stretch and then you follow instructions! Great coaching and encouragement.

Good luck!
