Reasonably priced leggings

Ok, I’m looking for recommendations for reasonably priced leggings please. I’m currently coming in at XXL in Fabletics and Under Armour but I’m struggling to find anything except plain colours and more than I can afford in those sizes (currently around £30 or less)

All suggestions gratefully received!

I got mine from Tesco. A set of 2 were around £16 I think. You can buy them singly also. They do plain and patterned, my current faves look like paint splatters!

SeeJillRun profile image
SeeJillRun60minGraduate in reply toVintage61

Ooh they sound fab! Are they moisture wicking too?

Vintage61 profile image
Vintage61Graduate10 in reply toSeeJillRun

Erm... I don’t think they are major breathable etc, but I’m a chunky bird who proper sweats and I’ve never had problems with them feeling yack

Excellent! Thank you, I’d never have thought of looking at Tesco 😁

Have you tried Decathlon ? Mine are plain, but I'm not sure what other colours they do

SeeJillRun profile image
SeeJillRun60minGraduate in reply tobackintime

I’ve had a look online n the only not completely plain ones were capri length and I’m after full length now we’re heading into cooler weather 😕

If you have one near, pop in, they do have a wider selection instore.

CP2 (my running buddy) loves her decathlon leggings. I have some boring m&s ones, and some slightly snazzier Ron Hills from John Lewis, but I waited for the sales. I love the Ron Hills, they feel great on.

SeeJillRun profile image
SeeJillRun60minGraduate in reply togrumpyoldgirl

Thanks, I’ll have a look at those 😁

If you have a TK Max near you, they often have an excellent range of good-quality-but-funky running gear at reasonable prices. I’ve got some REALLY good bargains from their clearance bit too. X X post a pic when you finally purchase!! X

SeeJillRun profile image
SeeJillRun60minGraduate in reply toKertesz

Oh I will! I’m definitely feeling the need for a something snazzy 😂 I’ve never been in TK Maxc though there’s one at the local retail park, will have to pop in 😁

Beware, you will get addicted. They're fantastic for shoes.

SeeJillRun profile image
SeeJillRun60minGraduate in reply toRitmo

I won’t be in too much danger then, my orthotic probably won’t fit in them lol

Kertesz profile image

It’s a bit of a lucky dip... and requires a bit of patience to rummage through everything - but you can strike (multi-patterned!) gold!! X

Will definitely give them a try 😊x

Tk’s is my first choice too 👍. I’ve found some brilliant bargains on sports wear in there.

Have you looked at sports direct , not to sure about there sizes 😊

SeeJillRun profile image
SeeJillRun60minGraduate in reply toBuddy34

Never even thought of them! Thanks for reminding me they exist 😂

MuddledGardener profile image

I got mine at Mountain Warehouse. Moisture wicking and a very reasonable price. I take a size 16, and they are very comfortable.

SeeJillRun profile image
SeeJillRun60minGraduate in reply toMuddledGardener

Never heard of them lol, will have to check with Google 😂

Run46 profile image
Run46Graduate10 in reply toSeeJillRun

The ones at Sports Direct in the Running department are defo moisture wicking etc...mine were £17.99, but are plain grey, pretty sure they did colours too though. Good luck finding some somewhere at a price that fit your pocket as well as your bootie 😁

RunRunRun13 profile image
RunRunRun13Graduate10

Have you tried Ebay ? You can get such good deals on there and you can buy brand new ones..purchased my Nike snazzy ones on there for under £10.

Or alternatively Decathlon/TK Max/Sports Direct have a good range.

SeeJillRun profile image
SeeJillRun60minGraduate in reply toRunRunRun13

Wow, that’s excellent! Will have to have a look. Cheers!

Walshy3 profile image
Walshy3Graduate10

I’d definitely hit up Decathlon, the one here in Belfast has great funky varieties with wacky colours if that’s what you’re going for, failing that try eBay, best of luck

SeeJillRun profile image
SeeJillRun60minGraduate in reply toWalshy3

There wasn’t anything like that last time I went in. Might give them another try though. Thanks!

Walshy3 profile image
Walshy3Graduate10 in reply toSeeJillRun

Another one worth a look is sturdy by design, some of her stuff is pretty out there, I got a pair for a breast cancer run and all in I think I paid about £35 including p&p she has a great size range too !

SeeJillRun profile image
SeeJillRun60minGraduate in reply toWalshy3

Bit more than I can afford right now but I’ll add her to my list for in future, cheers! 😁

Walshy3 profile image
Walshy3Graduate10 in reply toSeeJillRun

Believe me, it was way more than I’d ever want to pay, I try to keep it to a tenner or thereabouts, but a portion of the money went to cancer care, other than that my go to are decathlon and eBay, did you try tk maxx as well???

SeeJillRun profile image
SeeJillRun60minGraduate in reply toWalshy3

I’ve not actually been anywhere yet, just had a quick look online then decided to post on here

Walshy3 profile image
Walshy3Graduate10 in reply toSeeJillRun

Good luck, something will turn up, another one I use is sportsshoes.com, they do clothing as well as trainers, they’re usually about 2 seasons back but who cares! Let me know how you get on!

Jell6 profile image
Jell6Graduate10 in reply toSeeJillRun

They are good though, and stay put! (Go a size up) I bought some from Sports Direct and spent most of my run hoiking them back up😂

Costco also sell good quality leggings, not sure of the price.

SeeJillRun profile image
SeeJillRun60minGraduate in reply toJell6

Does that go for all leggings or just Sports Direct and sportsshoes.com ones?

Jell6 profile image
Jell6Graduate10 in reply toSeeJillRun

Which bit? The sizing up?

SeeJillRun profile image
SeeJillRun60minGraduate in reply toJell6

Yes

Jell6 profile image
Jell6Graduate10 in reply toSeeJillRun

I tried Tikiboo, and sized as per their guide, they were slightly too big, and slipped down when I ran in them, as I had worn them I couldn't return them! I ended up giving them away on here, asking only for a donation to a breast cancer charity.

Best thing is to try before you buy, if they have a drawstring all the better.

Definitely Sturdy by Design need a size up (for me at least), she does gift vouchers if anyone wants to treat you! They are excellent, but a bit addictive 😬 Register onto her website and you be informed of sales, she often has 20% off, which brings them in under £30.

Decathlon for me. Then bought a ridiculously expensive bra top thing from Victoria’s Secrets and got a deal on leopard leggings, just an extra £15. They should have been £60 😲 but are better quality than anything else I own, and are my top all time favourite.

SeeJillRun profile image
SeeJillRun60minGraduate in reply toBaddieThePirate

Wow, they sound snazzy! Think Victoria’s Secret is out of my current price range though 😕

BaddieThePirate profile image
BaddieThePirateGraduate10 in reply toSeeJillRun

I justified it by thinking I will keep the bra top FOREVER, so after 10 years the price per year will be reasonable!

My fave leggings are Lucy Locket Loves. They are £33 plus P&P, but join the Facebook group and there are discount codes most weeks (and a really supportive community). Might not be much on the site just now as they are about to move premises so had a massive sale to run down stock, but worth watching out for when they relaunch as they have already previewed the new designs and there are some fan ones coming.

SeeJillRun profile image
SeeJillRun60minGraduate in reply toDillydunks

Ooh thanks for the tip, I’ll look out for the group 😊

Rugbygirl profile image

Be careful with Fabletics you are bound to buy more than you want or need! It’s a bit of a con I think. Try TKMax but I got mine from my local charity shop - might be worth a look!

SeeJillRun profile image

I was just thinking about the introductory offer but the full length ones were a bit plain for me

Loads of tips there but just in case you've not got enough (!) do you have an outlet centre near you? Ours has a few sports stores in including Under Armour, Nike and Adidas. Have got all my stuff from those. I tend to favour dark leggings and a bright top but they have a wide range of styles and sizes. Esp good if the outlet has a sale too 😊

SeeJillRun profile image
SeeJillRun60minGraduate in reply toJuhe

There’s one a couple of towns away but it’s a drive so out of the picture at the moment sadly. Worth remembering for when I’m back behind the wheel though. Thanks!

Sweaty Betty are the best quality I have ever found - pricey but subscribe for newsletters and they’ll let you know when in sale. At least 50% off in sale - I have bagged some bargains. Also - Sainsbury’s for fair quality gear - leggings, tops - good range of sizes. Good luck. X

SeeJillRun profile image

I love Gap leggings. They are not cheap though so I always wait for the sales and can usually pick some up for under £20. They are supportive, blackout and most importantly you don’t see my cellulite through them 😂

Look out for the sportswear specials in Lidl and Aldi. Some of the best leggings and tops I wear are from there. The leggings are usually about £6.99. The tops about £3.99. Also Primark sportswear is very cheap and the colours bright. I do like bright sportswear.

I would also recommend Sturdy By Design. I got a couple of pairs of their winter leggings last year. Slightly fleecey inside but not at all thick. They are great for Winter running.

SeeJillRun profile image
SeeJillRun60minGraduate in reply toAlissum

I never saw any stuff like that in my Aldi, maybe it’s too small. Never been in Lidl lol, our nearest isn’t local. I know Primark are cheap but I’ve heard dubious reports about their moisture wicking capabilities so I’ve avoided them. The Sturdy by Design ones sound great for the chilly weather 😊. Cheers!

I’ve been using the cotton ones from Amazon all summer. Three quarter length, lots of colours, although all plain, and £5 or less a pair, price depends on colour

SeeJillRun profile image
SeeJillRun60minGraduate in reply toThriftyLesley

Are they actual running leggings or just ordinary leggings?

ThriftyLesley profile image

They’re ordinary leggings. But I’ve used them for running since I started a year ago

Have you tried sports direct I got the men’s karrimor tights and a bargain at £12.00 no point spending a fortune on them and a descent price and a good brand and they have more women’s running clothes than men’s so you will have more choices 😉

SeeJillRun profile image
SeeJillRun60minGraduate in reply toKevtrev

Not tried any actual shops yet but they’re on my list to have a look 😊

Kevtrev profile image

If you're a Costco member, or know anyone who is, they have a good range of sportswear. For the next two weeks, they have Tuff full length, high waist running tights for £11.98. I already have the capris and they are very good quality. I will be getting a couple of pairs of these long ones.

Check out start fitness for all brands, they're like tkmaxx for sports.

I'd advocate caution with more mile, I found the waist to crotch ratio....all wrong 🙈 but with start fitness you can get big brands for silly money, I've had stuff at 80% off rrp. It can take time for your size to roll round but like with adidas capris the quality is worth the wait (I got some for 15 quid!)

SeeJillRun profile image

Thanks for that, I’ll amend my list to note the waist to crotch difficulties 🤣🤣🤣

I wonder how long your XXL will be needed when you are doing couch25k. Maybe buy some el cheapo stuff because in one or two months you may be XL, and then L. Who knows? After 4 months of couch25K even my neck size shrank and all my 16 1/2 inch shirts look like I have spent a year in a concentration camp. Be careful, this couch25k can be good for your health, but you may be out buying new clothes :-)

SeeJillRun profile image
SeeJillRun60minGraduate in reply toMercmancouchto5k

I graduated C25k in March but I only got to 5k yesterday lol. I’ve lost about 12 pounds so far but the XXL sizes are still a little small lol. I’m only wanting cheap ones but it’s great to have so many suggestions of places to look. I have quite a list now! 😃
